World oil prices remain stable
On the morning of September 19, world oil prices fluctuated little as investors awaited the impact of the US Federal Reserve (Fed) starting to loosen monetary policy. Recorded on the Oilprice floor at 4:30 a.m. (Vietnam time), Brent oil stood at 67.94 USD/barrel, down slightly by 0.05 USD. WTI oil also fell 0.04 USD to 64.01 USD/barrel.
The Fed has just decided to lower interest rates by another 0.25 percentage points, and at the same time signaled that it will continue to reduce borrowing costs in the coming time to support the economy . According to analysts, lower interest rates often create momentum to boost energy demand, but the US economic picture still shows many signs of instability.
US crude oil inventories fell sharply as net imports hit a record low, but distillate inventories rose more than expected, with diesel in particular rising by 4 million barrels. This is the factor that prevented international oil prices from breaking out despite many risks to global supply.
In the Middle East, Qatar Energy announced it was raising the price of its al-Shaheen crude for November delivery to an eight-month high. Russia continues to face drone attacks from Ukraine on its refineries and export terminals, raising concerns about possible supply disruptions.
Domestic gasoline prices on September 19
On the afternoon of September 18, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance announced adjustments to retail gasoline prices.
Accordingly, the price of E5 RON92 gasoline increased by VND230/liter to VND19,986/liter, while RON95-III increased by VND208/liter, reaching VND20,608/liter. Diesel oil price also increased by VND62/liter, selling at VND18,705/liter. Kerosene increased by VND176/liter to VND18,544/liter, while fuel oil increased by VND40/kg to VND15,130/kg.
This operating period continues to not set aside or use the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund. According to calculations, the average price of finished petroleum products in the world in the period from September 11 to September 17 remained around 80 - 88 USD/barrel depending on the type.
The joint ministries said the price management aims to ensure a reasonable difference between E5RON92 and RON95 bio-fuel, both encouraging the consumption of environmentally friendly fuels and ensuring the harmony of interests for people, businesses and the state budget.
