In addition, the province directed localities to prepare adequate supplies and necessities, including 22,000 m3 of gasoline, 20,850 m3 of diesel; 2,745 kg of rice, 282 kg of salt, 426 kg of instant noodles, 1,426 kg of dry food, 79,200 boxes of instant noodles, 12,900 boxes of dry food, 21,000 boxes of drinking water and 245 tons of other food, ready to support people in evacuation areas and isolated and flooded areas.
According to forecasts, from October 23 to 28, there is a possibility of a flood due to heavy rain on the rivers of Quang Tri province, the flood peak on the rivers is likely to reach alert level 3 or above alert level 3. With the flood scenario of most main rivers above alert level 3, localities will plan to evacuate 12,470 households/44,507 people due to flooding; of which, concentrated evacuation is 8,325 households/29,640 people; interleaved evacuation is 4,147 households/14,867 people.
Currently, Quang Tri has 152 locations at risk of landslides, affecting 1,459 households/6,793 people; there are 46 underground spillways that are often isolated during heavy rains and floods. The province has directed units and localities to prepare forces to guard and arrange barriers and warning signs at underground locations, flooded spillways, isolated areas, landslide-prone locations, dangerous areas, etc. to ensure safety for people and vehicles.
In Quang Tri, there are a total of 8,720 vehicles/23,360 workers. By 5:00 a.m. on October 22, there were 18 vehicles/128 workers operating at sea, and the call for boats continues to be deployed. The vehicles have received information about storm No. 12. Inspection and supervision at anchorage areas and ports have been strengthened, ensuring absolute safety for boats during the storm. At the same time, standing forces and rescue vehicles are deployed on site, always ready to respond when bad situations occur.
In the past 24 hours, in Quang Tri province, there has been moderate to heavy rain, high waves, strong winds... causing some damage to fishermen. Accordingly, at 9:30 a.m. on October 22, at the embankment of Thach Han River in Ward 2, Cua Viet Commune, about 200 meters from the embankment, a steel mesh cement ship sank. The initial cause was heavy rain, rising tides broke the anchor rope, causing the ship to crash into the embankment, sinking the ship. The incident did not cause any human casualties, and property damage was about 50 million VND. The Cua Viet Port Border Guard Station sent 8 comrades to coordinate with fishermen to organize rescue and salvage the ship to shore.
Previously, at 8:50 a.m. the same day, the fishing boat of Mr. Bui Minh Thang - born in 1986, residing in village 4, Cua Viet commune, which was anchored along the river embankment in ward 5, also sank. The cause was determined to be carelessness in tying the rope. Cua Viet Border Guard Station sent a working group of 7 comrades to coordinate with the boat owner to pull it ashore to ensure safety.
