On June 15, according to Al Jazzera news agency, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said that fighting in Al-Fashir city between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) left 226 people dead and 1,418 others injured.

MSF believes the actual number of casualties could be higher, given the fierce airstrikes and ground offensive that has been underway since May 10. Al-Fashir is the last city in Sudan's western Darfur region not yet under RSF control.

According to the United Nations (UN), since April 2023, when the conflict broke out between the Sudanese army and RSF, more than 14,000 people have been killed and more than 10 million people have been forced to flee. The continuous fighting has made it almost impossible to provide aid to people in war zones. Many humanitarian warehouses, grain storage facilities and water wells have been destroyed. Meanwhile, the delivery of aid from neighboring Chad has encountered many difficulties.

The UN Security Council on June 13 adopted a resolution demanding an end to the siege of Al-Fasher, unhindered humanitarian access and compliance with an arms embargo on Sudan. The UN Security Council had previously called for a ceasefire during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, but without success.
