Start-up with OCOP products
Integrating the OCOP program with the startup movement is a solution and task in implementing the national target program on new rural construction, in line with the reality of the province. Startups oriented towards OCOP products also help young people develop in line with local advantages but at a new level, with production processes that ensure standards, helping to increase product productivity and improve product uniformity.
According to the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, President of the Provincial Vietnam Youth Union, Thi Phuong Hong, the support for the implementation of the OCOP program helps union members and young people to remove obstacles and difficulties related to procedures and regulations for product registration. "In the coming time, the Provincial Youth Union will continue to implement the policy of supporting trade promotion, bringing OCOP products of union members and young people further into supermarket systems, stores, consulting points, introducing and selling OCOP products, e-commerce platforms... of provinces and cities across the country", Ms. Thi Phuong Hong said.
With the idea of starting a business growing coconuts and selling tubers, it brings a stable source of income to Mr. Le Trong Dang, residing in Xeo La B hamlet, Tan Thanh commune. In 2023, his tubers will be certified to meet 3-star OCOP standards. Mr. Dang shared: "To stabilize, sustain, and increase the value of agricultural products, I realize that OCOP is a stepping stone to introduce and affirm the brand and quality of the product, so I researched and asked the local organization and government to support the registration of OCOP products for tubers. When the product is certified to meet OCOP standards, the value increases and is known by many people. I often sell to restaurants and retailers in and outside the province. The product is highly appreciated by the market and consumers for its quality." Currently, Mr. Dang's tubers are sold for about 50,000 VND/kg, with a profit of more than 100 million VND/year. The product is packaged and vacuum-sealed to send far away in and outside the province.
Spread positive energy
With the role of accompanying young entrepreneurs, the Provincial Youth Startup Support Center has successfully organized a startup creative ideas competition, which has been maintained since 2017. After 8 years of implementation, the competition has attracted nearly 700 ideas and projects, including many innovative startup ideas and projects, mostly in the agricultural sector, a few in service products, tourism, technology... associated with local characteristics. The center supports the realization of ideas emerging from the competition, enhancing the stature of existing projects, specifically supporting loans for more than 99 projects, with a disbursement amount of more than 7.2 billion VND.
In order to support the output of youth start-up projects, the Provincial Youth Union launched the “Store providing OCOP products, youth start-up products and local specialties”. This is where OCOP products and start-up products are displayed, introduced, consigned for sale... helping to promote youth products to reach closer to consumers inside and outside the province in many different forms.
In the coming time, the Provincial Youth Union will continue to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for youth start-up movements. Ms. Thi Phuong Hong said: “The Youth Union at all levels promptly discovers and sets examples for young people with outstanding achievements in the start-up process. The young start-up force needs to spread positive energy to the remaining young people, express the desire to start a business, get rich legitimately, promote the viewpoint that start-ups must be “with heart and vision” to create quality products and meet the needs of consumers in the new era”.
