Quang Tri: Temporarily suspends female vice principal related to the case of 40 students hospitalized after a boarding meal

On October 2, Mr. Dang Van Duong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Kim Ngan Commune (Quang Tri Province), confirmed that he had signed a decision to temporarily suspend Ms. Do Thi Hong Hue, Vice Principal of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, for 15 days - the person directly in charge of the boarding kitchen where 40 students were hospitalized after breakfast.

Parents dialogue with schools and local authorities

The decision, effective from October 2, was made after a meeting with parents whose children study at the school.

Previously, on the morning of September 26, as reported by SGGP Newspaper, 40 students of the school were admitted to Le Thuy Regional General Hospital with severe stomach pain and nausea after eating banh tay at the school's canteen, causing public outrage.

Two days after the incident, 75 boarding students stopped going to school to protest the way the school managed the kitchen. Now, after the school committed to correcting the situation, the students have returned to class, only a few students whose health is not stable have been visited at home by teachers.

Parents request not to let Ms. Do Thi Hong Hue be in charge of the boarding kitchen

At the dialogue on the afternoon of October 1, more than 20 parents reported many shortcomings related to the quality of meals, the risk of food safety and hygiene, and the ethical and reputational issues of Ms. Do Thi Hong Hue. According to the records, Ms. Hue was disciplined by the People's Committee of Le Thuy district in October 2023 due to her involvement in the case of "appropriating other people's property".
