Ha Anh Tuan sings in memory of musician Xuan Phuong

Hanoi Ha Anh Tuan sings "Wishing for Old Memories", "If We Have to Be Apart", paying tribute to the late musician Xuan Phuong.

During the February 24 concert, the singer said he wanted to thank the musician for preserving the youthful memories of many people and himself through beautiful melodies. He chose to sing two songs associated with Xuan Phuong's students - Old Memories Wish and If We Must Be Separated. When he performed, a black and white portrait of the musician appeared on the screen. Compared to the original, he sang with a more lively and cheerful melody. Performing If We Must Be Separated, he went down to each row of the audience to interact with fans.

Musician Xuan Phuong passed away in November 2023 at the age of 50, after a period of serious illness. He was fortunate to compose many film soundtracks, the most famous being Mong uoc ky niem xua in Xin hay tin em by director Do Thanh Hai, and Neu phai xa nhau in the film Song dam , directed by Nguyen Huu Trong.

During the three hours, Ha Anh Tuan and the guests chose to sing many old songs, evoking musical memories from decades past. Compared to previous concerts, Ha Anh Tuan has improved in his singing voice and song processing technique. He has limited his "stutter" voice, which has been a weakness for many years. The singer maintained a whispering, intimate performance style, as if chatting with the audience.

Ha Anh Tuan still creates his own musical space, where he converses with fans through short stories, sharing his own emotions and experiences. He repeatedly talks about the laws of time and youth when discussing the program's theme - The Keeper of Spring . The singer said: "We cannot hold on to time, but there is a way to reassure ourselves. Remember that the things we will always remember, will always vibrate, the sounds that deeply touch our memories, every time they appear before our eyes, are when we are living in the midst of spring."

Most of Ha Anh Tuan’s music listeners have been with him for a long time, attending many of his concerts. Whenever he asked questions about songs in previous shows, they were quick to answer.

In addition to the songs that are associated with his name such as Co chang trai viet len cay, Co gai va cay piano, Xuan thi (Phan Manh Quynh), he introduced some new songs such as Danh tat xuan thi de cho nhau (Vu), Co lon doi khi cung la can (Luu Huong Giang). Ha Anh Tuan said that Luu Huong Giang entrusted the song, asking him to spread it. The two have been friends since the Sao Mai Diem hen competition in 2006.

Ha Anh Tuan calls himself and three guests a new boyband, when the four of them sing Doi Bo (foreign music, Vietnamese lyrics), Tinh Thoi Thoi Xa (Bao Chan). The four singers have different voices but are similar in their emotional, narrative singing style, making the audience continuously clap their hands in support.

The program was well-staged and meticulous, keeping the 3,000 spectators at the National Convention Center captivated until the last minute. The stage was decorated in cool tones, dotted with images of spring flowers, the main image being an antique sewing machine. According to director Cao Trung Hieu, the sewing machine is an object associated with many women, from their youth to old age. The visual effects for each performance were designed simply. The symphony orchestra under the direction of conductor Tran Nhat Minh, the Cadillac backing group, supported the artists' voices. The old songs were re-arranged by Hoai Sa, with a warmer, more energetic spirit.

Ngoc Anh (23 years old, Hanoi) is a long-time fan of Ha Anh Tuan, attending all the male singer's shows in all regions. "Compared to the concerts in Da Lat, Hoi An or Ninh Binh, the show in Hanoi is less grand but creates deep emotions and sweet echoes," Ngoc Anh said.

Ha Anh Tuan became famous when he entered the top 3 of Sao Mai Diem Hen 2006. The albums Saigon Radio (2008), Cocktail (2010) and Street rhythm (2015) were nominated for the Dedication Award. At the end of 2016, Ha Anh Tuan launched the music project See sing share with 10 episodes released on YouTube. The project led to a series of resounding live shows such as: Fragile, Sweet memories, Romance - The man & the flower on the left chest, Short story , Veston.
