Vietnamese artists bring shows internationally

Recently, more and more Vietnamese singers and their domestic crews have boldly brought their solo shows abroad. This is a journey of continuous learning and self-improvement for the domestic performing industry.

BIG DREAMS ARE NO LONGER FAR AWAY

Recently, on September 14, singer My Linh had her first performance as part of the My Linh Xin Chao Tour 2025 in Yokohama City, Japan. This performance is part of the Asian tour of the diva Toc Ngan , first including 2 stops in Japan and Korea (taking place in Seoul on October 11). The tour was organized by the Xin Chao Live Music crew. Previously, many artists such as Hong Nhung, Van Mai Huong, Ngo Kien Huy... also came to Asian audiences thanks to this crew.

Sharing with Thanh Nien reporter, director Van Trinh, Director of Xin Chao Entertainment, said: "Earlier this year, singer My Linh contacted us to discuss ideas about performing an Asian show (specifically Japan). After a period of discussion, Xin Chao researched and proposed expanding the show to Korea and some other countries, thereby convincing her to come up with the idea of ​​My Linh Xin Chao Tour 2025. Besides Japan and Korea, other countries are still in the process of preparation and negotiation."

Dolby Theatre's media platforms - the iconic theater of Hollywood (USA), where the annual Oscar awards ceremony takes place - have recently reported on the Ha Anh Tuan Live Concert "Sketch a Rose" in Los Angeles , which will take place on October 18. This is the first time a Vietnamese music event has been present at this famous theater. General director Cao Trung Hieu said: "The first time Ha Anh Tuan mentioned that Dolby Theatre would be the next destination for Sketch a Rose , we analyzed to make Tuan understand that it was too big a dream, with many difficulties, because performing Vietnamese music at a normal theater abroad is already difficult, let alone an iconic theater. But when the issue was raised, with the help of international units that had cooperated with him as well as proving what he had done and what experience he had, Dolby Theatre trusted and agreed."

DIFFICULTIES OF PLAYING ON "AWAY GROUND"

With these shows, the idea, organization, and operation of course encounter many difficulties because they are performed on "away ground". Director Van Trinh shared: "To carry out a program in Japan with the right, sufficient, and beautiful standards is not simple. Because the implementation cost is very high, every stage is calculated specifically, with close coordination so that when the crew goes to Japan to install, it can be completed in just one day. Here, even the cost of renting the theater is not discounted even if it is only used for the practice process. Therefore, to avoid unexpected costs, everything is calculated precisely down to every detail".

Director Cao Trung Hieu shared that he also had similar experiences in Australia and Singapore. He revealed that the standards of the Esplanade Theater (Singapore) are very strict and have many extremely detailed terms, but with flexibility, the crew finally had 2 successful shows. However, in the Australian leg, there was only 1 day of preparation because not only the rental cost is expensive but the place is also full of schedules because it is an iconic location of the world . He added that there is no show held here that has as much time for preparation as in Vietnam. But on the contrary, the Sydney Opera House (Australia) has everything, from physical facilities to human resources, so the important thing is the ability to communicate and plan methodically to be able to complete the work in a short time.

The director of Sketch a Rose added that the experiences, learnings, and the development of the Vietnamese performance industry in recent years in terms of equipment, human resources, and experience... show that the direction of international development is very promising. Cao Trung Hieu further revealed that after Ha Anh Tuan's program was successful, both the Singaporean and Australian crews sent invitations to continue cooperation, thereby showing that "the Vietnamese crew has a voice and is highly appreciated, as well as the Vietnamese creative community has gradually proven its ability".

Talking about the factors that he wants to prove to international friends, director Van Trinh confided to Thanh Nien reporter: "We always put the criteria: meticulousness, professionalism and quality first. With experience in organizing shows abroad (especially ticket sales programs at famous theaters in Japan and Korea), professionalism and meticulousness are essential for the show to take place completely. With the idea of ​​serving overseas Vietnamese, we really want to bring a real music experience in the space of top auditoriums, so quality is also very important."

These programs are both opportunities for the performance industry to gain experience and contribute to serving Vietnamese audiences abroad, while also promoting the image of Vietnam and Vietnamese products internationally through cultural and entertainment events.
