To further implement cooperation between Vietnam and the Netherlands in joint programs, the Netherlands is ready to support, cooperate, share policies, experiences, techniques as well as financial solutions with Vietnam.

Sharing about the mentioned fields, Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh said that after the 8th Session of the Vietnam - Netherlands Intergovernmental Committee of the Strategic Partnership Framework on Climate Change Adaptation and Water Management, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is actively completing the legal framework on water resources management according to the Law on Water Resources 2023; implementing the Joint Cooperation Plan in sustainable offshore sand exploration and exploitation; building a cooperation program on education , training and research on climate change and water resources management...

Regarding sustainable offshore sand exploitation, Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh agreed that it is necessary to quickly issue guidelines for offshore sand sourcing projects. To further strengthen management and exploitation capacity, the Minister assigned the Vietnam Geological Survey to closely coordinate with relevant units, focusing on building a legal corridor, planning policies, environmental and social impact assessment, etc.

Regarding sustainable groundwater management in the Mekong Delta, the geopolitical position has made this delta vulnerable to climate change and extreme weather events. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment hopes that the Netherlands will support and share experiences in researching comprehensive solutions for water storage to solve the problem of excess water in the flood season and water shortage in the dry season in the Mekong Delta, helping to balance water resources and bring the Mekong Delta to a state of sustainable development.

Regarding the activities at the International Commission on Deltas and Coastal Areas, Minister Dang Quoc Khanh assessed that this is a good platform to share knowledge on climate adaptation. The Department of Climate Change, the Department of Water Resources Management and the Standing Office of the Vietnam Mekong River Commission will coordinate with the Netherlands to make proposals to improve national capacity to utilize water resources in the context of climate change, supporting the livelihoods of people in the Mekong Delta.

At the meeting, the two Ministers also discussed the development of a program to mark the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Framework on Climate Change Adaptation and Water Resources Management between the two countries. This is an opportunity for friends in the region and the world to know that the two countries are making efforts to comply with international commitments on climate change adaptation.
