Key projects promote urbanization and inter-regional connectivity

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan said that the Tran Hung Dao bridge project includes two component project groups, with a total investment of nearly 16,000 billion VND, starting at the intersection of Tran Hung Dao - Tran Thanh Tong - Le Thanh Tong (Hai Ba Trung district), the end point connecting with Nguyen Son street (Long Bien district and Bo De ward), with a total route length of about 4.18 km.

The main bridge is 870m long, consisting of 6 spans divided into 2 links, with a steel arch structure symbolizing infinity - an image associated with the spirit of innovation and sustainable development of the Capital. The two approach bridges on both sides are more than 1.1km long, with a prestressed reinforced concrete box girder structure. The route has three major intersections: the right Hong dike, the left Hong - Co Linh dike and Nguyen Son street, designed to ensure technical standards of urban main roads, in harmony with landscape, lighting and trees.

The project is expected to be completed in 2027.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that Tran Hung Dao Bridge will be a driving force to strongly promote the urbanization process on both banks of the Red River, contributing to reducing the load on Chuong Duong and Vinh Tuy bridges, expanding the urban development space in the East and strengthening inter-regional connectivity between Hanoi and the Eastern and Northeastern provinces. The project also creates a premise to implement the policy of population dispersion, reducing pressure on inner-city traffic, contributing to the GDP growth target of 8% or more in 2025.

“Hanoi City would like to express our sincere thanks for the attention and direction of the Central Party Committee, the Government, the Ministry of National Defense, ministries and branches, and the consensus and support of the people of the capital – key factors that helped the project to be implemented smoothly,” said Mr. Duong Duc Tuan.

He also requested departments, branches, local authorities and contractors to "concentrate maximum resources, human resources, equipment, scientific and safe construction, ensuring quality, aesthetics and progress" to soon put the project into use.

The Government accompanies Hanoi in completing the capital's infrastructure framework.

Giving the groundbreaking order, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh affirmed that the implementation of the Tran Hung Dao bridge project demonstrates Hanoi's determination to implement one of the three strategic breakthroughs in infrastructure, concretizing the policy of developing synchronous and modern infrastructure as set forth by the 13th National Party Congress.

He said that in recent times, the Party, National Assembly and Government have focused resources on developing the national transport infrastructure system - from highways, seaports, airports, urban railways to key projects of the capital, opening up new development space for the economy, urban areas, tourism, services and industry.

“Tran Hung Dao Bridge is not only an important traffic project but also has symbolic value, contributing to beautifying the architectural appearance of Hanoi and becoming a tourist highlight of the capital in the future,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

Appreciating the efforts of the Hanoi government and relevant units, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the results achieved are proof of the effectiveness of the decentralization and delegation mechanism in infrastructure investment. He also noted that the work ahead still has many challenges, especially site clearance, material sources and construction conditions in complex weather, requiring strong direction and close coordination between levels, sectors and contractors.

“The Government will always accompany and closely direct the project to complete on schedule, with quality, safety and efficiency, creating a new symbol of the thousand-year-old capital,” Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh affirmed.
