On the afternoon of September 10, Nguyen Hai Dang ( world rank 63) became the only representative of the host country remaining in the men's singles of the Super 100 Tournament - Vietnam Open 2025.
Seeded No. 7, the Vietnamese player only entered the field from the second round, facing Yu-Kai Wang (Chinese Taipei, ranked 136) and easily won in two sets. Before that, Le Duc Phat (ranked 85) had stopped early when he lost 0-2 (9-21, 15-21) to Kok Jing Hong (Malaysia, ranked 77) in the first round, on September 9.
Hai Dang showed dominance over its opponent from Chinese Taipei.
In the first set, Hai Dang dominated early, leading 7-3 and then 11-6. He had a series of 7 consecutive points to widen the gap to 18-10, before closing the first set with a score of 21-16 despite his opponent saving two match points.
In the second set, Wang started well and took the lead, but Hai Dang quickly regained control of the game. From a score of 5-5, the home player scored 6 consecutive points to take the lead to 11-5 and maintained the advantage, ending the match with a 21-15 victory.
