On the afternoon of July 26, in Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Nam Cultural Company organized a discussion with the theme "Han Kang - The man who realized the Korean Nobel Prize in Literature dream", on the occasion of the reprinting of the work The Vegetarian (Nha Nam and Hanoi Publishing House) by writer Han Kang.
The program's speaker is Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien, Head of the Korean Language & Culture Department - Van Lang University, President of the Translation Literature Council - Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association. Writer Huynh Trong Khang participates as the program coordinator.

At the program, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien gave an overview of Korean literature through the generations before and after Han Kang. Not only did he win the International Booker Prize in 2016 with his work The Vegetarian , Han Kang is also considered as "the person who realized Korea's Nobel Prize in Literature dream".

According to Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien, the topic that Han Kang aims at is to directly hit the nature that any human being - regardless of race, Western or Eastern, is the same. Another topic of interest to Han Kang is history. She writes about Korean history and from there talks about history, the topic of human rights .
According to Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien, Han Kang is a person who devoted his whole life to literature and writing, and rarely interacted with society. This can be more or less felt through Han Kang's literature.
“Han Kang herself is a person of few words, but perhaps thanks to that, she has a more thorough and objective view of life. Approaching Han Kang’s literature from the perspective of a reader will make you feel tired and gloomy, but gradually become fascinated. That is the unique feature of Han Kang’s literature,” Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien expressed.
