Coach Harry Kewell (blue shirt in the middle) wants to bring Hanoi back to its original position.

“Hopefully, we will create a great atmosphere together and I want to bring Hanoi back to its former position. That is the reason I am here,” Harry Kewell said about the reason for coming to work in Hanoi.

Coach Harry Kewell was appointed as coach of the capital team on the morning of October 4. The strategist born in 1978 arrived in Hanoi yesterday afternoon (October 5) to a warm welcome from the team's fans.

After a long time playing and coaching in many different football environments, the former Australian player brings with him openness and adaptability. For him, the most important point to success lies not only in tactics but also in how to inspire players.

Coach Harry Kewell said he has worked with many Asian players. What impressed him the most was their extraordinary efforts in every training session and match. From that experience, he believes that Vietnamese football also has people with great aspirations, ready to learn and improve themselves.

“The best thing about being a coach is creating an environment where players want to join and learn. I want to go to a place where players are eager to learn. Vietnam is that place,” Coach Kewell emphasized.

Coach Harry Kewell will debut in the match between Hanoi and Ninh Binh in round 7 of V.League 2025/26.

The 46-year-old coach does not hide his ambition to turn Hanoi into a team with an attractive playing style, based on the spirit of learning and the desire to progress. “Helping the players improve every day is my job. When they improve, the team will improve,” he added.

In addition to expertise, Coach Harry Kewell also emphasized the factor of integrating with the local culture. He said he once advised his children: "When you go anywhere, you must accept the culture there. If you do, life will be much easier."

In the immediate future, the Australian strategist will have to face great pressure as Hanoi aims to compete for the V.League championship. However, the Australian coach appears ready for the challenge. “I am very excited and looking forward to what lies ahead,” he affirmed.

In Hanoi, coach Harry Kewell will have two weeks to get acquainted with his players before making his debut to the capital's football fans with a match against Ninh Binh in round 7 of the V.League 2025/26. The match will take place at 7:15 p.m. on October 18.
