This afternoon, after the official welcoming ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Hungarian National Assembly Chairman Kover Laszlo held talks.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the two countries have a long history of friendship and cooperation, with Hungary being one of the first 10 countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam.

The traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries have been nurtured and developed by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries. Vietnam always remembers and is grateful for Hungary's valuable support. The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to promote relations with Hungary - Vietnam's first comprehensive partner in Central and Eastern Europe.
The President of the Hungarian National Assembly said that in its foreign policy towards the East, Hungary always considers Vietnam as its most important partner in the Southeast Asian region. Although the two countries are far apart geographically, culturally and historically, there are few countries with which Hungary has such a close relationship as with Vietnam. He assessed that the two sides still have much room for cooperation in economics, trade, investment, tourism, education and training.

The two sides informed each other about the situation in each country and the activities of the two countries' National Assemblies. The two leaders agreed to continue to increase contacts and delegation exchanges through all channels of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly and people-to-people exchanges.
The two National Assembly Chairmen agreed to deepen cooperation in areas such as science - technology, education - training, environmental resources, health, culture - tourism, etc.
The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of high-ranking delegations of the National Assembly, specialized committees and friendship parliamentary groups to exchange and share information and experience in parliamentary activities; cooperate in supervising, urging and supporting the Government to effectively implement high-level agreements and commitments. The two leaders agreed on the main topic of the 6th legislative workshop between the two National Assemblies, scheduled to take place in the first half of 2026...


This afternoon, receiving Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly Kover Laszlo, President Luong Cuong assessed that the visit contributed to promoting the Vietnam-Hungary Comprehensive Partnership as well as cooperation between the two legislative bodies.
The two countries have made positive developments in all areas, especially since establishing a Comprehensive Partnership in 2018. Economy and trade continue to be a bright spot with two-way turnover from 2020-2024 at about 1 billion USD per year. Cooperation in defense - security, education - training, culture, environment... has achieved many good developments.
The President hopes that the legislative bodies of the two countries will continue to coordinate to create a legal corridor and facilitate bilateral cooperation. He suggested that the two sides strengthen political trust; promote cooperation in economics, trade, investment, national defense - security, science - technology, education - training, culture - tourism and people-to-people exchange...

Hungarian National Assembly Speaker Kover Laszlo expressed his pleasure in visiting Vietnam again after 10 years. He said the legislative bodies of the two countries will coordinate to implement high-level agreements, support the two governments to promote bilateral cooperation, and soon bring trade turnover to 2 billion USD.
The Hungarian National Assembly will support the remaining EU member states to soon ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), and support the European Commission (EC) to remove the IUU yellow card for Vietnam's seafood exports.

This afternoon, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly Kover Laszlo.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh informed the Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly about Vietnam's socio-economic development situation.
The Prime Minister also shared major strategic orientations, goals, solutions, and lessons learned in economic development, growth model innovation, institutional and legal reform, streamlining the apparatus, developing science and technology, and building an independent and self-reliant economy.

Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament Kover Laszlo highly appreciated Vietnam's growing role and position in the region and the international arena. Vietnam has always been Hungary's leading important partner in Southeast Asia.
The two sides assessed economic, trade and investment cooperation as one of the important pillars, and agreed to promote cooperation in this field commensurate with the trustful political relationship. The Prime Minister thanked Hungary for being one of the first EU countries to ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), and asked the Hungarian National Assembly to continue supporting the parliaments of the remaining EU member states to soon ratify the Agreement.
National Assembly Speaker Kover Laszlo affirmed that Hungary is always ready and recommends and urges the remaining EU countries to soon ratify the agreement, for the benefit of EU countries. He pointed out that Vietnam is the EU's largest and most important trade partner in Southeast Asia.

The Prime Minister proposed that the two countries strengthen trade and investment cooperation, soon doubling the current bilateral trade turnover; strengthen cooperation in the development field, and coordinate to effectively implement projects using preferential credit from the Hungarian Government for Vietnam.
The two countries also need to strengthen cooperation in education and training, especially in areas where Hungary has strengths and Vietnam has needs such as nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, high technology, medicine, innovation, etc.
The Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly highly agreed with the proposals of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Mr. Kover Laszlo said that all political parties in the Hungarian Parliament, despite their different political tendencies, all agree to support strengthening and deepening relations with Vietnam...
