Tai Po Club will play against Hanoi Police on October 2 at Hang Day Stadium, within the framework of round 2 of Group E AFC Champions League Two 2025 - 2026.
To prepare for this match, Tai Po arrived in Hanoi on the evening of September 28. They planned to have 3 days to prepare for the match. However, due to the impact of storm No. 10 in Hanoi, causing heavy rain, the Hong Kong team lost a whole day of outdoor training and had to stay in the hotel to practice.
"We arrived in Hanoi about 3 days before the match, but we lost 1 day of practice because of the rain. We also just played a 120-minute match recently, so the players' physical strength was also affected. We are doing everything we can to help the players regain their best physical condition," said Tai Po FC head coach Lee Chi Kin at a press conference at noon on October 1.
Before coming to Vietnam, Tai Po also had to play in the rain in their home country. That greatly affected the players' physical condition. Therefore, coach Lee Chi Kin determined that the upcoming match against Hanoi Police Club would be very difficult.
"I watched the video and saw that Hanoi Police Club is a strong team. I was most impressed with player number 19 (Nguyen Quang Hai - captain). The first thing we will do when entering the game is to defend firmly and then take advantage of counter-attack opportunities. We are also ready to defend the whole match in the upcoming confrontation," said captain Tai Po.
In Group E of the AFC Champions League Two, Tai Po FC is leading the group after beating Macathur 2-1 in the first round. Following them are Beijing Guoan and Hanoi Police. For Coach Lee, this is not a surprise because his team always tries their best.
"I can't control public opinion that Tai Po is the weakest team in the group. We are currently leading thanks to a lucky win against Macathur and will try our best in the upcoming matches to maintain that advantage," said the captain of the Hong Kong team.
Tai Po are the reigning champions of the Hong Kong Premier League, but are currently only 4th in the standings after the first 3 rounds of this season. Coach Lee said that he and his players will fight with all their might in all competitions instead of prioritizing a specific tournament.
The match between Hanoi Police Club and Tai Po will take place at 7:15 p.m. on October 2 at Hang Day Stadium, and will be broadcast live on K+.
