Interim coach of Hanoi FC: 'Who doesn't want to win'

Interim coach Yusuke Adachi of Hanoi FC expressed regret after the 1-1 draw between The Cong and Viettel on the evening of September 20 in round 4 of V-League 2025 - 2026.

"Of course I regret it. When playing football, everyone wants to win. I regret that Hanoi FC had a good game and took the lead but could not maintain the advantage," coach Yusuke Adachi told a press conference after the match.

At Hang Day Stadium, interim coach Yusuke Adachi made his debut for Hanoi FC with a 1-1 draw against The Cong - Viettel . Hanoi FC took the lead in the first half with a cross from Pham Tuan Hai. The Cong - Viettel equalized in the second half after a tricky shot from Vietnam U23 player Khuat Van Khang.

When asked why he withdrew captain Nguyen Van Quyet, the author of the assist for the opening goal for Hanoi FC and also one of the most outstanding players on the field, coach Yusuke Adachi gave two reasons.

"Van Quyet is tired. I also want to change tactics," said the Japanese strategist.

Mr. Adachi also revealed that he received a lot of help from his predecessor, Mr. Makoto Teguramori, after 3 days of taking office as "captain" of Hanoi Club.

"Makoto is a famous coach in Japan. He has great talent and personality. When he retired, I took over the team with heavy responsibility. He still supported and communicated with me, helping me take charge of the team.

The situations where Hanoi got close to scoring were the result of Mr. Makoto's work, and the fact that the team couldn't score was because I didn't do well," said coach Yusuke Adachi.

Although Hanoi FC has not had its first victory, they are still recognized by their opponents as a top-class team in the V-League.

"Hanoi played more fiercely. If they are not the best team in V-League, Hanoi must be in the top 3. Today's match was very difficult and I think the 1 point against Hanoi is deserved," said Coach Velizar Popov of The Cong - Viettel.
