Sharing with the media, Coach Troussier highly appreciated the efforts and progress of the Vietnamese players.

“After a week of training, I think every player has tried very hard to comply and establish the first steps in how to operate and organize the game.

They trained hard and showed great determination. I was pleased with the attitude of the students.

I try to impart as much knowledge as possible so they can get on the field despite the tight schedule.

With practical ability and acquired knowledge, I hope the Vietnamese team will have a good performance," said Mr. Troussier.

Notably, the French coach mentioned Quang Hai during the interview and gave him positive comments.

“For Quang Hai, he is the player playing abroad who joined the team the earliest. He tried his best and I am completely satisfied with what Quang Hai showed,” the French strategist commented.

It is worth mentioning that just over a week ago, coach Troussier said that the star player currently playing for Pau FC did not deserve to be on the Vietnamese national team.

But after only a short training period, the star from Dong Anh made the strategist born in 1955 have a different view of himself.

Back to the press conference, although Hong Kong was rated much lower than the "Golden Star Warriors", coach Troussier still respected his opponent.

“Football is difficult to talk about strength on paper. We respect Hong Kong because they have qualified for the Asian Cup.

They are also building their squad for the first qualifying round of the World Cup and are full of desire. I can only say that the Vietnamese team will give their 200% effort.

We also studied Hong Kong through their recent friendly matches, so we are confident that the team is well prepared for the match,” said coach Troussier.

Talking about the Vietnamese team's playing style, the French-born strategist said: "I want the players to perform well in situations from deploying at the end of the field, passing the ball, and finishing.

If we can do this, we will win. But winning is not always easy and no opponent can keep us on the field forever.

Each player must make an effort, coordinate and actively support each other on the field. This is only the first match and we must prepare further for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 Asian Cup.”

According to schedule, the match between Vietnam and Hong Kong will take place at 7:30 p.m. on June 15 at Lach Tray Stadium.
