Coach Philippe Troussier made a very bold decision in this training session of the Vietnamese team, when he appointed 3 captains at the same time, including Que Ngoc Hai, Do Hung Dung and Nguyen Hoang Duc. Thus, the team's executive committee now only has a captain, no vice captain.

The captains will take turns wearing the captain's armband in the upcoming friendly matches of the Vietnamese team, against China (October 10), Uzbekistan (October 13) and South Korea (October 17).

Coach Troussier’s choice of captain is different from his predecessor Park Hang-seo. Under Mr. Park, there is always 1 captain and 2 vice-captains appointed to the executive committee. Ngoc Hai and Hung Dung are the most recent captains of the Vietnamese team.

The Vietnamese team will leave for Dalian (China) tonight, October 7, to prepare for a series of important friendly matches before the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Coach Troussier affirmed that he is waiting for his players' performance more than the results, in order to make appropriate adjustments in the World Cup qualifiers.
