Support orange consumption for people in mountainous areas

The family of Mr. Ho Van Tai (a Gie Trieng, living in Nuoc Lang village) planted 100 orange trees with a yield of 50kg per tree, the whole garden is estimated to harvest 5 tons of oranges. He said: "This year's orange crop is better than every year, the fruits are big, ripe, and sweet. But since the harvest day until now, traders have not come, people bring them to the market to sell, only selling a few kilos per day, the rest gradually falls, it's so sad!"

Seeing baskets of oranges picked hastily, filling a corner of the garden but not knowing where they would go, Mr. Chau Nguyen Ngoc Hung and members of the Kham Duc Charity Club launched a program to support orange consumption.

Specifically, Mr. Hung and Ms. Dao Thi Bich Phung (club member) surveyed the situation, then organized a livestream at the orange garden to introduce clean orange products on social networking platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, attracting the attention and support of the community. The livestream attracted thousands of views, shares, and interactions. After only a few hours of "airing", tons of people's oranges were quickly consumed.

Mr. Hung shared that the oranges of the people are grown completely naturally on the mountainous soil of Phuoc Son, thanks to which they retain their sweet taste, characteristic aroma, and rich nutrition.

Oranges are grown in large quantities in the two villages of Nuoc Lang and Lao Du, yielding tens of tons each season. This is an agricultural product that deserves to be introduced to a larger market, especially in the context of consumers increasingly paying attention to safe products for their health.

The club also cooperated with businesses in neighboring communes to buy back oranges at 25,000 VND/kg, with the spirit of supporting consumption, not for profit, wishing to connect clean agricultural products from farmers to consumers.

Many people in Kham Duc and neighboring areas enthusiastically supported the program when they learned about it. Many people bought 5-10kg of oranges at a time, even buying them to send as gifts to relatives in the city.

Ms. Tran Thi Mai, a resident of Kham Duc commune, shared: “I find the program very meaningful. The oranges are delicious, the prices are reasonable, and knowing that the oranges are grown by the locals without using any pesticides, I feel more secure when buying them for my family to enjoy.”

Mr. Ngo Ba Lam, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Kham Duc commune, said that in the conditions where people mainly produce in traditional ways, on a small scale, without stable output, the club's "rescue" activities not only help people overcome immediate difficulties but also provide a great motivation for them to continue farming with peace of mind. The locality is actively seeking long-term solutions to support farmers in consuming products such as organizing agricultural markets, building the brand of clean Kham Duc oranges, etc.
