Hoang Sao easily defeated his German opponent.
On the evening of September 20, the final round of the 2025 Men's 10-Ball World Championship kicked off at the Military Zone 7 Gymnasium (HCMC). On this competition day, all four Vietnamese players, Duong Quoc Hoang (Hoang Sao), Pham Phuong Nam, Nguyen Van Huynh and Nguyen Bao Chau, all took part.
Hoang Sao, Vietnam's number 1 player, faced his opponent Marco Spitzky (Germany). Right from the first shots, he impressed with two consecutive ball balances, winning the first set 4-2. After that, he continued to play well to win the final with a score of 2-0. Hoang Sao advanced to the winner's bracket and faced Spitzky's compatriot, Thorsten Hohmann.
Hoang Sao is still the biggest hope of Vietnamese billiards in this world championship.

How do Vietnamese players compete?
Besides Hoang Sao, two other Vietnamese players also had favorable results to advance to the winners' bracket. Nguyen Bao Chau had a spectacular comeback against Fu Huan (Hong Kong) with a score of 2-1. Meanwhile, Pham Phuong Nam won 2-1 against Casper Matikainen (Finland). The only Vietnamese player to lose was Nguyen Van Huynh. However, he still has a chance to advance if he plays well in the losers' bracket.
The first round also witnessed many surprises, with strong candidate for the championship, Fedor Gorst, receiving a quick 0-2 defeat against Spanish player Jonas Souto. The defeat on the opening day forced Fedor Gorst to focus on finding a chance to advance further in this year's tournament from the loser's bracket. Filipino "prodigy" AJ Manas had a 2-1 comeback victory over his compatriot Raymund Faraon. Aloysius Yapp (Singapore) defeated Kyle Richard 2-0.
On September 21, the final round of the 2025 Men's 10-Ball World Championship continues with the winners' bracket matches. In this round, the world's top players such as the reigning champion from the Philippines, Carlo Biado, Joshua Filler (Germany), Ko Pin Yi, Ko Ping Chung (Chinese Taipei), Albin Ouschan (Austria),... will all take part.
