Tran Quyet Chien shows off his talent at the 'World Cup of Vietnamese billiards'

In early October, Tran Quyet Chien and other top Vietnamese players will compete in the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation (HBSF) billiards tournament, round 3, Min Table Cup 2025.

The HBSF Billiards Tournament, Phase 3, 2025, takes place from September 29 to October 4 at the Sports Service Center ( Phu Tho Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). This is a high-quality billiards tournament organized by HBSF, which has affirmed its position in the billiards community over the years and is likened to the "World Cup of Vietnamese billiards".

Stage 3 was organized with 4 events including: men's 3-cushion carom, women's 3-cushion carom, men's 9-cushion pool and women's 9-cushion pool, gathering hundreds of amateur and professional players to participate. Among them, the event that received the most attention was 3-cushion carom. The tournament could not be without the prominent names of current Vietnamese 3-cushion billiards such as Tran Quyet Chien, Tran Thanh Luc, Bao Phuong Vinh, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu...

The men's 3-cushion carom content includes the qualifying round and the final round. In which, the final round (VCK) is also divided into rounds 1, 2 and 3. According to the tournament regulations, the top 16 players on the HBSF rankings will be specially invited to participate from round 3 of the VCK. Thus, famous players such as Tran Quyet Chien, Bao Phuong Vinh, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu, Dao Van Ly, veteran Ly The Vinh... are all scheduled to appear from round 3 of the VCK.

Round 3 starts on October 3, with a total of 32 players divided into 8 groups. Players compete in a round robin to calculate points and rank. The top two players in each group qualify for the knockout round (16 players).

The champion receives 50 million VND, the runner-up receives 20 million VND, and the two third-place players receive 10 million VND each. The top 8 players receive 5 million VND each, and the top 16 receive 2 million VND each. The 3-cushion carom event also has two secondary prizes: "best game" (the match with the highest score/cue) and best series, each receiving 5 million VND.
