Conference to evaluate the implementation results of the Project to control gender imbalance at birth for the period 2016 - 2025 and Vietnam's Population Strategy to 2030 in Lai Chau province

In recent times, the work of population and family planning has achieved many positive results, contributing to the successful implementation of the tasks and goals of socio-economic development of the province. Party committees and authorities at all levels have seriously implemented and concretized the goals of controlling the sex ratio at birth into local activities, and directed the close review of activities at the grassroots level. The Fatherland Front and mass organizations have closely coordinated in the process of implementing propaganda, dissemination and education of the law on not choosing sex at birth and the consequences of gender imbalance at birth in the province... gradually operating effectively. The Project implementation plan, deployed in the period of 2016-2025, has contributed to raising awareness and sense of responsibility of each individual, family and community in implementing the provisions of law on prohibiting the provision of services related to fetal sex selection. Gradually eliminate backward customs and concepts of male superiority and female inferiority, implement gender equality, and eliminate gender discrimination.

The results of the implementation of the birth rate adjustment work in the period of 2020-2025, the National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development of Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas has supported the implementation of Project 7 activities in general, and the stabilization and development of the population in ethnic minority areas in particular, contributing to the implementation of the goal of reducing the birth rate in the province, with an average annual reduction of 1‰/year. The total birth rate (average number of children/woman) decreased from 2.63 children to 2.49 children (in 2024), the estimated implementation in 2025 is 2.39 children...
