(GLO)- On May 25, the Farmers' Association of An Khe town ( Gia Lai province) held the 12th Congress of the Farmers' Association of the town (term 2023-2028).

Attending the congress were Ms. Chu Thi Thu Huong - Vice President of the Provincial Farmers' Association; Standing Committee of the Town Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Khe town; leaders of the Organizing Committee, Propaganda Committee of the Town Party Committee, People's Committee of the town; leaders of communes and wards and 120 typical delegates representing more than 6,500 farmer members in the town.

An Khe Town Farmers' Association currently has more than 6,500 members, operating in 11 association bases. Over the past 5 years, the Town Farmers' Association at all levels has been proactive, closely following targets and plans, organizing implementation and achieving many important results.

Implementing the movement of farmers competing in good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty, the Association at all levels has deployed the movement widely in the area. Accordingly, more than 23,404 farmer households have registered for the title of good farmer production and business and 17,549 farmer households have met the standards of good farmer production and business households at all levels.

To support farmer members in accessing and applying science and technology, and consuming products, the Association at all levels has coordinated with functional sectors and enterprises to organize 60 training sessions and seminars for more than 7,450 farmer members. The Town Farmers' Association coordinated with the Transaction Office of the Social Policy Bank of An Khe Town to help 1,900 farmer households borrow with a total outstanding debt of 85,310 billion VND. From the "Farmer Support" Fund of the Central, the province and the town, many members have had more capital to invest in expanding production scale, developing the economy and increasing income. Compared to the previous term, the number of households with a profit of more than 200 million VND/year increased 3 times, and the income of more than 1 billion VND/year increased 5 times.

Joining hands to build rural infrastructure under the motto "State and People work together", many farming households have donated more than 16,000 m2 of land, contributed more than 2,000 working days and more than 1.5 billion VND to build rural roads; repaired 2,500 m of canals, 60 bridges, 177 km of roads; cleared nearly 82 km of fences and structures; contributed funds to install lighting on 11 routes, 112 bulbs, 3,962 m of electric wire with an amount of more than 104 million VND, contributing to changing the face of the countryside.

The Association at all levels has mobilized members to contribute to their civic obligations at their place of residence, reaching 6,172/6,754 members; farmers voluntarily participated in health insurance and social insurance reaching 91%; mobilized 100% of members to collect waste, register to use clean water; mobilized 100% of farmer members to sign a commitment to ensure food safety production.

The Association also pays attention to building and developing effective economic models and mobilizing, guiding and supporting farmers to participate in developing collective economic forms in agriculture . Up to now, the whole town has 8 cooperatives and 37 cooperative groups; 50 professional associations and 5 professional branches, of which 1 flower growing branch in Ngo May ward has developed into a flower cooperative group, 1 vegetable growing branch in An Binh ward has developed into An Binh cooperative in 2019.

During the past term, the Association at all levels introduced outstanding cadres, members, and farmers for the Party Committee to consider and admitted 25 Party members.

In the spirit of "Solidarity - Innovation - Integration - Development", in the 2023-2028 term, the Town Farmers' Association strives to achieve a number of targets: 100% of cadres and farmer members in the town are propagandized and disseminated the Party's policies and resolutions, the State's policies and laws and resolutions of the Association at all levels; annually develop 300-400 new members; each association base establishes 2-3 new professional association groups; during the term, each association base establishes 1-2 professional branches; 100% of association cadres at all levels and branch cadres and groups participate in training courses, refresher courses, update new knowledge, skills in agricultural mobilization work and association work skills...

The Congress elected 19 comrades to the Executive Committee of the An Khe Town Farmers' Association, term XII (2023-2028). Comrade Truong Quoc Thang was elected as Chairman of the An Khe Town Farmers' Association, term XII (2023-2028). The Congress also elected a delegation of 11 official comrades and 2 alternate comrades to attend the 9th Provincial Farmers' Association Congress (term 2023-2028).

On this occasion, the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of An Khe town presented a banner with the content "Solidarity - Innovation - Integration - Development" to An Khe town farmers; the Chairman of the People's Committee of An Khe town presented certificates of merit to 5 collectives and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in the Association's work and the farmers' movement for the 2018-2023 term.
