Vietnam Farmers' Union held the 95th anniversary celebration

On October 14, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Farmers' Union held the 95th anniversary celebration, the 6th Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union and received the title of "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" during the resistance war against the US to save the country for the Farmers' Union for the Liberation of the Central Highlands - Central Region.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association Luong Quoc Doan emphasized that, with its predecessor being the "Red Farmers' Association", established by the Party on October 14, 1930 under the name "General Farmers' Association of Indochina", through revolutionary periods with many different names, under the leadership of the Party and the great President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnam Farmers' Association has continuously grown in all aspects, always accompanying the Vietnamese peasant class, making important contributions to the revolutionary cause and the common achievements of the country.

The development of the Vietnam Farmers' Union has always been closely linked to each historical period of the country, through 8 Congresses with appropriate goals and tasks for each term. The Unions at all levels have been making efforts to promote the role of farmers as the subject and center in agricultural development, rural economy and new rural construction; arousing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country. "Through the development process, the work of the Union and the farmers' movement has been increasingly innovated and substantive, shifting from a formal movement to a concrete effect, bringing practical benefits to members and farmers; strengthening consulting and service activities, supporting farmers to develop production and business, improving their lives; listening to farmers to solve difficulties in production and business", Mr. Luong Quoc Doan emphasized.

Speaking at the Congress, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien emphasized that agriculture, farmers and rural areas have a very important strategic position in the Party's revolutionary cause. The history of the Vietnam Farmers' Association originated from the first Conference of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party in October 1930, when it decided to establish the Indochina General Farmers' Association, the first name of the current Vietnam Farmers' Association. Under the wise leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnam Farmers' Association has become the political nucleus of the peasant class, uniting a large number of farmers, creating a powerful force.

“Over 95 years of establishment and development, the Vietnam Farmers' Union has always been a great political force, loyal to the Party, closely attached to the people, a solid support for the peasant class and the great national unity bloc. The Vietnam Farmers' Union has proactively advised and proposed to the Party and the State many important guidelines, policies and strategies to develop agriculture, build the peasant class and build new rural areas. The patriotic emulation movements of farmers have created a strong influence, especially the movement of "being good at solidarity to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty", Mr. Do Van Chien emphasized.

Agriculture continues to play a supporting role in the economy and national food security. The efforts of farmers and the Vietnam Farmers' Association have contributed to the current foundation, potential, position, and international prestige. In particular, the hard-working and creative farmers have helped our country transform from a country with a lack of food into a top rice exporter in the world, with the ability to export 8-9 million tons of rice. In recognition of these great achievements, the Party and the State have awarded many noble awards. At this Congress, the Party and the State awarded the title of People's Armed Hero to the Farmers' Association for the Liberation of the Central Highlands, along with 10 outstanding individuals who were awarded the Third Class Labor Medal.

Praising and appreciating the efforts and contributions of the peasant class and the activities of Farmers' Unions at all levels across the country over the past 95 years, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien also requested that all levels of the Vietnam Farmers' Union and the peasant class across the country unite, compete, and effectively implement the following 5 contents.

Firstly , continue to build a strong and comprehensive Association, strongly innovate the content and methods of operation, strongly focus on the grassroots and residential areas, be the center of solidarity, and support farmers with the motto: "Wherever farmers are in difficulty and need, there is the Farmers' Association".

Second , truly innovate the emulation movements and aspirations of the Farmers' Association in a practical and effective direction associated with the Association's political tasks.

Third , promote propaganda to raise awareness, qualifications and capacity for cadres, members and farmers on collective economy, agricultural business, safe food, market connection, digital transformation, international integration, etc.

Fourth , strengthen the role of the Association in participating in monitoring, social criticism, expanding democracy, caring for and listening to farmers' thoughts and aspirations, and playing a good role as a bridge and a substantive dialogue between farmers and government leaders, ministries, branches and local authorities.

Fifth , the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union must grasp the situation, results of the arrangement, streamlining of the apparatus and activities of the Farmers' Union at the provincial level, especially at the commune level...

Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien expressed his belief that, with its 95-year glorious tradition, determination to innovate and aspiration to rise up, the Vietnam Farmers' Union and the peasant class will continue to unite, be dynamic, creative, achieve more success, together with the entire Party, people and army to build a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous and strong Vietnam, firmly advancing towards socialism as beloved Uncle Ho always wished.

At the Ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces and the Third-class Labor Medal to the Central Highlands - Central Liberation Farmers' Association and 10 outstanding individuals of the Vietnam Farmers' Association.

The goal is to arouse a vibrant competitive spirit throughout the Association system, contributing to the successful implementation of socio-economic development tasks and maintaining national defense and security in the 2025-2030 period.
