Yen Tu Spring Festival 2024 takes place in 3 months

The Spring Festival Opening Ceremony, welcoming visitors to Yen Tu (Uong Bi City, Quang Ninh Province) in 2024 is an annual cultural activity to serve the spiritual and cultural needs of all classes of people, contributing to preserving, honoring, promoting the value and promoting the image of the Yen Tu historical relic and scenic spot to a large number of domestic and international tourists.

This year, the traditional Yen Tu Spring Festival opening ceremony was organized solemnly, safely, healthily and economically, imbued with national identity.

During the festival, there will be special cultural activities such as: Organizing folk games; performing traditional arts in Yen Tu Village; displaying and exhibiting paintings and photos to promote the values ​​and majestic and sacred beauty of Yen Tu.

Yen Tu Mountain is a sacred land, a blessed land of the country, a place associated with the name and great career of King Tran Nhan Tong - the King who led the army and people of Dai Viet to defeat the invading Yuan - Mongol army twice. After two glorious wars, when the country was at peace, he left the throne, giving the throne to his son, King Tran Anh Tong, to concentrate on studying Buddhism.

In 1299, King Tran Nhan Tong officially went to Yen Tu mountain to become a monk, took the Buddhist name Dieu Ngu Giac Hoang, and became the first Patriarch of the Truc Lam Zen sect. For that reason, later generations always believed that Yen Tu was the origin and birthplace of the Truc Lam Zen sect and King Tran Nhan Tong was the Buddha of Vietnam.

Through the ups and downs of history, Yen Tu has always cherished the sacred soul of Vietnamese culture with dozens of pagodas, hundreds of stupas, thousands of ancient relics containing the spiritual and ideological values ​​of the Truc Lam Zen sect and the brilliant culture of the Dai Viet era.

With such great values, today Yen Tu has become a priceless treasure and a source of pride not only for the people of Quang Ninh but also for the people of the whole country. To honor and enhance the value of Yen Tu, in 2013 the Prime Minister signed a decision to recognize Yen Tu relic site as a special national relic.

Currently, Quang Ninh province, along with Hai Duong and Bac Giang provinces, have completed the nomination dossier for the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex to submit to UNESCO for recognition as a World Heritage Site.
