On the morning of November 26, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province announced that Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien had just signed a decision approving the sub-project to upgrade and renovate Provincial Road 579 connecting with the Cam Lo - La Son Expressway.

Accordingly, the sub-project to upgrade and renovate provincial road 579 connecting with Cam Lo - La Son expressway, part of the basic infrastructure project for comprehensive development of Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces - Quang Tri province sub-project (BIIG2 Quang Tri), aims to create a seamless traffic network connecting Dong Ha city with Trieu Phong district and Cam Lo district, gradually completing the province's road traffic network.
In particular, the project will enhance mobility in search and rescue, flood and storm prevention, forest fire prevention, contributing to climate change response and maintaining national defense and security.
Provincial road 579 has not been invested in yet and is still a dirt road.
The sub-project to upgrade and renovate provincial road 579 connecting with Cam Lo - La Son expressway has a land use area of about 4 hectares, the construction site is in Trieu Ai commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province.
According to the decision, the project will upgrade provincial road 579 from Km 10+030 (continuing the existing road that has been invested in and built) to Km 12+531, with a construction length of about more than 2.5km. The roadbed is 7.5m wide, of which the road surface is 5.5m wide, the reinforced shoulder on each side is 0.5m wide, and the dirt shoulder on each side is 0.5m wide.

Some sections of the road that have not been invested in are severely damaged, making it very difficult for people to travel, especially during the rainy season.
