- Dear Dr. Nguyen Ai Hoc, Quang Tri is actively preparing for the event "Festival for Peace 2024" next July. On June 30, the TCE Institute organized a scientific seminar "Towards building a peaceful city in Quang Tri". What is the significance of this, sir?

Dr. Nguyen Ai Hoc: Thank you for your question. Before TCE prepared to organize the Scientific Seminar with the theme "Towards building a peaceful city in Quang Tri ", we did not know about the "Festival for Peace 2024" that would be held in Quang Tri.

Our work is an activity from a long-standing passion of a group of people. However, when we heard this information, we felt destined to meet. Our work has the same direction, the same love for everyone. That is the love of Quang Tri, the love of Vietnam, covering all is the love of peace. How meaningful!

- Can you tell us more about the purpose and content of this TCE discussion?

Dr. Nguyen Ai Hoc: We can say this: Our big dream, and I am sure that of many people, is to have a peaceful city “sprouting” on Quang Tri land. What is a peaceful city? Why must it “sprout” on Quang Tri land?

The answers to these questions will be in the presentations of scientists - historical researchers, geographical researchers, cultural researchers, political researchers, economic researchers, spiritual researchers... in the national scientific conference on building a peaceful city in Quang Tri, scheduled to be held at the end of this year. The purpose of this discussion is to ask for opinions from scholars, scientists, people who love Quang Tri... about the idea and method of organizing our scientific conference.

- While waiting for the scientists' presentations at the conference, could you please tell us your personal opinion about a peaceful city "growing" on Quang Tri land?

Dr. Nguyen Ai Hoc: In my opinion, in the development and integration of Vietnam today, a peaceful city "growing" on Quang Tri land will bring many material and spiritual values. This is a place of spiritual convergence, where Vietnamese people express their aspirations, gratitude, and repayment to their compatriots, comrades, and teammates who have sacrificed. This place will have a peaceful and humane "incense" space for all the souls who have lain under the land of Quang Tri in particular and under the land of Vietnam in general.

This is one of the world's sacred places to commemorate war victims, connecting peace for humanity. Such a convergence creates a source of immense positive energy, a solid foundation for the survival, development and integration of the Vietnamese community.

I firmly believe that if a peaceful city "grows" on Quang Tri land, the people of Quang Tri (who have suffered too many losses and disadvantages...) will enjoy many benefits in terms of tourism economy and many other benefits.

Dr. Nguyen Ai Hoc: It is understandable that there are differences. TCE's activities are inclined towards scientific activities, on the path to the birth of a peaceful city on Quang Tri land "in flesh and blood". The "Festival for Peace 2024" about to take place in Quang Tri is a cultural festival. In addition to the sacred rituals, participants of the "Festival for Peace 2024" can also participate in many cultural activities...

- Dear Dr. Nguyen Ai Hoc, besides a "spiritual place" as we can easily see when looking at the history of Quang Tri, what other potential benefits does this place have that inspired the idea of ​​a city of peace?

Dr. Nguyen Ai Hoc: Of course there is. Quang Tri has a lot of potential to inspire us when we imagine a peaceful city "growing" here. However, in a short exchange like this, we cannot say it all.

Quang Tri has an advantage in human resources. Quang Tri people are intelligent, patient, strong, steadfast, and determined. That has been tested in many wars of the nation, tested on the fierce battlefield right on their homeland - a name that has forever gone down in history: "Quang Tri Battlefield". So the difficulty in construction work is "nothing" to them. In terms of geography - history - transportation, Quang Tri has many advantages for city construction as well as developing multi-faceted values ​​when the peaceful city "grows".

Truong Son Cemetery - the resting place of heroic martyrs.

Located in an important strategic position, Quang Tri plays a key role in protecting and exploiting the East Sea, exchanging between the North and South of the country as well as facilitating traffic with countries in the west of the Indochina peninsula, other countries in the Southeast Asia region and the world.

Through Quang Tri, there are key traffic routes such as National Highway 1, North-South Expressway, Ho Chi Minh Road, North-South Railway and National Highway 9 connecting with Trans-Asia Road, through Lao Bao International Border Gate to Laos... allowing Quang Tri to have good economic exchanges with provinces in the region and the whole country. Quang Tri has Cua Viet Port, one of the seaports that can serve the transportation of goods in the region and the transit of goods via Trans-Asia Road.

Not far from the center of Quang Tri is Phu Bai - Thua Thien Hue airport (about 80 km) and Da Nang international airport (about 150 km) and right on its land, Quang Tri is building an airport. Although a small province, Quang Tri has many rivers, with 7 main river systems: Thach Han river, Ben Hai river, Hieu river, O Lau river, Ben Da river, Xe Pon river and Se Pang Hieng river. In addition to exploiting hydroelectricity, the river system in Quang Tri also shows the beauty of nature, creating a harmonious beauty, evoking many emotions for a peaceful city.

Quang Tri is home to many natural sites and historical relics that hold great tourism potential. These sites are convenient for exploitation thanks to their widespread distribution across the province and proximity to major traffic routes.

These are places such as: Con Co Island - Pearl in the middle of the East Sea, Ta Con Airport, Gio An ancient well, Dakrong suspension bridge, Ho Chi Minh trail, Quang Tri ancient citadel (associated with the 1972 summer campaign), Truong Son Martyrs' Cemetery, National Road 9 Martyrs' Cemetery, Vinh Moc tunnel, Hien Luong bridge, Khe Sanh base, Con Tien - Doc Mieu base, McNamara electronic fence, Cua Tung beach, My Thuy beach, Cua Viet beach, La Vang holy land...
