Huynh Nhu extended her contract with Lank FC for another year

Striker Huynh Nhu and Lank FC reached an agreement to extend her contract for another year after her old contract expired in May.

After the 2023 Women's World Cup, Huynh Nhu did not join the Vietnamese women's team to prepare for the 19th Asiad but focused on negotiating a contract with Lank FC.

The representative of the striker from Tra Vinh said that after about a month of negotiations, the two sides agreed to extend the contract for another year.

Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed but are likely to be higher than last season's figure of €1,500 a month.

In the 2022/2023 season, Huynh Nhu scored 7 goals for Lank FC, including 5 goals in the national championship and two goals in the Portuguese National Cup.

She is Lank's second-best scorer, behind striker Malu Schmidt, despite having much less playing time. Lank FC finished the season in 6th place, 4 places higher than the 2021-2022 season.

Huynh Nhu arrived in Portugal more than a week ago to prepare for the new season with her teammates. On September 17, Lank FC played their first match of the 2023/2024 season against Sporting Lisbon.

By staying at Lank FC, Huynh Nhu will most likely not join the Vietnamese women's team at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. This is not a FIFA tournament, so in order to participate, the striker from Tra Vinh must be approved by Lank FC.

Coach Mai Duc Chung said that the absence of Huynh Nhu is a big loss for the Vietnamese women's team, but he has also considered alternative options. According to the schedule, the Vietnamese women's team will play their opening match at the 19th Asiad on September 21 against Nepal.
