Israel conducts first airstrikes on Lebanese capital since ceasefire

Before the attack, the Israeli military issued an evacuation notice and warned that it would attack a building in the Beirut suburb of Dahiyeh that Tel Aviv said was a Hezbollah base. An Israeli military spokesman later said the airstrike targeted a Hezbollah truck and a warehouse where drones were stored.

After Israel bombed Beirut on March 28, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam criticized Israel, calling the incident a dangerous escalation, according to AFP. French President Emmanuel Macron called the attack absurd and said he would call US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the details. Mr. Macron said Tel Aviv had unilaterally violated the ceasefire.

Hezbollah's actions following the Israeli attack on the Beirut area are currently unknown. Hezbollah has denied involvement in the rocket attacks on Israel in recent days, saying this is an excuse for Tel Aviv to continue its military operations in Lebanon.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese army said on March 28 that it had discovered a rocket launch site in the Qaaqaaieh al-Jisr area of ​​southern Lebanon.
