Emergency embankment to protect the tourist coast of Hoi An Tay ward

DNO - On October 22, in Hoi An Tay ward, nearly 100 officers and soldiers of the Defense Command of Area 5 - Dien Ban, Cua Dai Border Guard Station, the Ward Military Command, together with local youth union members and youths, organized sea dikes and reinforced the shore sections washed away by big waves.

In strong winds and large waves continuously crashing into the sandbank, which had been severely damaged by previous storms, it was very difficult to put sand into bags and build breakwaters, but no one stopped working.

In an urgent atmosphere, each sandbag was passed with the determination to hold this seriously eroding bank.

Mr. Vo Bong, a local resident, said that since yesterday, the waves have gotten bigger and the winds have gotten stronger, causing the erosion on this stretch of coastline to become more serious. Thanks to the timely arrival of the army, the situation was not very dangerous.

Hoi An Tay Ward has over 3km of eroded coastline, of which the most serious erosion area is nearly 300m through Tan Thanh block.

Many locations are less than 30m from the main Nguyen Phan Vinh street. If the embankment is not built in time, the risk to people's safety is very high.

Mr. Bui Van Dung, Chairman of Hoi An Tay Ward People's Committee, said that the ward People's Committee has reported and received urgent instructions from the City People's Committee to reinforce vulnerable coastal sections.

On October 21 and 22, the forces of Cua Dai Border Guard Station and the Defense Command of Region 5 - Dien Ban actively participated with local forces to reinforce the coast. Thanks to that, more than 50m of the most dangerous area was temporarily protected.

Storm No. 12 is forecast to have a strong impact on Da Nang city and surrounding areas. In that context, it is extremely necessary for forces, especially officers and soldiers of the Defense Command of Region 5 - Dien Ban, Cua Dai Border Guard Station, to promptly reinforce vulnerable coastal landslide areas.

The forces are sticking with the locality, determined to protect every inch of coastal land, with the spirit of "sacrificing oneself for the people", the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" shine in peacetime.
