In recent years, along with the recovery of traditional international tourist markets such as Korea, China, Taiwan (China), Japan, the US, Europe, etc., Vietnam tourism in general, and Quang Ninh in particular, has focused on developing and expanding the tourism market to potential countries that have not been exploited much, such as India, Islamic countries, etc. With more than 1.4 billion people and a strong increase in the demand for foreign travel, India is becoming a target market that the tourism industry is aiming for.
According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, before the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of Indian visitors to Vietnam was only 169,000 (in 2019), but by 2023, this number was 392,000, an increase of 231% compared to 2019. In the first 6 months of 2024 alone, our country welcomed 231,000 Indian visitors, an increase of 164% compared to the same period in 2023. India has become one of the 10 largest international tourist markets in Vietnam.
Travel agencies and tourism companies believe that Vietnam has all the strengths to strongly attract tourists from India. Because the distance between Vietnam and India is not too far, there are many direct flights connecting the two countries, so it is very convenient for traveling. In addition, Indian tourists pay great attention to Vietnam tourism with many beautiful landscapes, unique culture and cuisine , and competitive travel costs compared to other countries in the region.

With Quang Ninh possessing many unique landscapes and landscapes, especially Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, Yen Tu Scenic Area..., along with unique cultural features, diverse cuisine..., in recent years, in addition to restoring traditional international tourist markets, the province has also identified India as an emerging market with great potential to exploit.
With the support and assistance of the Vietnamese Embassy in India, the Quang Ninh tourism industry has stepped up promotion into this large tourism market through many channels, direct and indirect, expanding forms of market access.
As of 2022, right after the Covid-19 pandemic ended, Quang Ninh has implemented many promotional solutions, reconnecting traditional international tourist markets, Quang Ninh tourism aims to exploit new markets with great prospects and potential such as India... Quang Ninh welcomed a group of more than 200 Indian tourists to visit, relax, and experience the landscape of the World Heritage - Natural Wonder of Ha Long Bay. Next, Quang Ninh welcomed a survey group of leading Indian travel agencies, airlines, and media to experience the resort products in Ha Long Bay. This is the first survey group from India to learn about destinations and tourism services in Quang Ninh since the pandemic. Along with that, Quang Ninh's destinations have also welcomed many Indian billionaire groups to visit, experience, and hold wedding ceremonies.
From tour groups and tourists coming to Quang Ninh after the pandemic, destinations in Ha Long and Ha Long Bay have been spread to Indian tourists, thereby orienting the market, building products and tours to bring tourists to Quang Ninh.
One of the positive signs is that from August 29 to September 3, Quang Ninh is expected to welcome a group of about 6,000 Indian tourists to visit Ha Long. This group belongs to the high-spending segment and is one of the largest Indian tourist groups to Ha Long ever. At the same time, it is expected to create a media effect, widely promoting the image of Ha Long - Quang Ninh tourism as attractive and friendly, which is a premise for large groups of tourists with high spending from India to Quang Ninh in the near future.
To create the best impression for the Indian tourist group, relevant departments, branches, units and businesses have arranged reception plans, vehicles, traffic flow, ensured security, order and traffic safety, especially ensuring service quality, creating convenience, good impression, and meeting the specific requirements of the tourist group.
The Indian market has been identified by Quang Ninh as one of the potential international tourist markets, focusing on promoting and exploiting. To attract tourists from this market of more than 1.4 billion people, the tourism industry and tourism service businesses have been making efforts to ensure the best and most satisfying service for Indian tourists.
