Mr. Tran Huu Linh, Director of the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, spoke at the conference.

On the morning of August 22 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) in collaboration with the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) and the Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association (LEFASO) organized the Conference "Developing the domestic market for the Textile, Garment and Footwear industry".

This is an important activity in a series of programs to promote the consumption of Vietnamese goods, while affirming the determination to effectively exploit the potential of the domestic market.

In recent times, the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development has implemented many practical solutions to connect the consumption of textile, garment and footwear products in the domestic market. Notable activities include responding to the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods", implementing the Domestic Trade Development Strategy, organizing conferences to connect supply and demand, and supporting businesses to expand consumption channels through e-commerce. These efforts not only contribute to bringing Vietnamese goods closer to consumers but also create a sustainable foundation for developing the domestic market.

Notably, over the years, VITAS and LEFASO have accompanied the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade in promoting Vietnamese goods in the domestic market. This coordination has contributed to enhancing the position of the textile and footwear industry, and effectively realizing the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods".

Speakers at the conference

In the context that the export market is facing many challenges and barriers from key markets such as the United States, the EU, South Korea, China, etc., exploiting the domestic market is considered an important solution to ensure stable output and sustainable development. With a population of more than 100 million people, domestic consumption in 2024 is estimated to reach 5-5.5 billion USD for textiles and about 1 billion USD for footwear. This shows that the demand for high-quality products is increasing, opening up a large space for Vietnamese enterprises.

Focusing on the domestic market not only helps businesses reduce their dependence on exports, but also gives consumers more opportunities to access products that meet international standards, produced by reputable, experienced businesses. This is a parallel direction, both promoting domestic advantages and preparing for global competition.

With the participation of over 100 delegates representing units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, local Departments of Industry and Trade, e-commerce platforms, associations, textile and footwear enterprises and press and media agencies, the Conference "Developing the domestic market for the Textile and Footwear industry" focused on 3 main contents, including: Discussion session; open dialogue session and exhibition area.

In the context that the export market is facing many challenges and barriers from key markets such as the United States, EU, Korea, China, etc., exploiting the domestic market is considered an important solution to ensure stable output and sustainable development.

The discussion session focused on assessing the current situation of the textile, garment and footwear industry in the process of exploiting the domestic market, thereby clearly identifying the opportunities as well as the challenges and difficulties that still exist. This is also a forum for businesses and associations to share successful models and experiences in building brands and developing domestic distribution systems.

Following the open dialogue session, delegates discussed and proposed many practical solutions to develop the domestic market for these two key industries, aiming at sustainable development. In addition, the exhibition area was arranged to introduce and display typical products, thereby creating conditions for direct connection between businesses and consumers, while contributing to promoting the brand and enhancing the image of Vietnamese goods.

The conference is an important forum to affirm the role of the domestic market, where parties exchange, share experiences and find practical solutions to promote the consumption of textiles, garments, footwear. Through the accompaniment of management agencies, associations, businesses, e-commerce platforms and media, this event will contribute to creating momentum for Vietnamese goods, improving competitiveness and increasingly better meeting domestic consumption needs.
