To comfort and encourage your children, as well as to avoid unfortunate consequences when they "think foolishly and act recklessly", parents should be their children's "close friends" during the period when they know the exam results and fail, as well as do not pass the university or college entrance exam.
Parents should never scold their children or use insulting words like "You are such a stupid student, how can you achieve anything?" or "Studying and taking exams are a waste of time." Instead, encourage and comfort your children to ease their sadness. Tell your children: "You are still young, failing the exam is just a first stumble in life, and you will have many opportunities to correct your mistakes in the next exam year...".
Parents can also guide and orient their children on their exam preparation plans for the following year, and at the same time instill in them hope, such as: "Dad, Mom believes that if you invest 5-7 months to thoroughly review your knowledge, you will definitely pass the next exam with a high score!"; or: "Study is talent, but exams are fate. You should not be sad, quickly overcome your sadness to review and consider this failed exam as motivation to strive for the next year."
In fact, many parents, when they discover that their children have failed an exam, "reprimand" them and scold them harshly, making their already sad children even more lonely and sad. The blame, curses, and insults from parents when their children are sad are like "adding fuel to the fire" and make them even more stuck and have no way to solve the problem.
Encouraging, comforting, sharing, expressing your thoughts and wishes with your children when they are carrying immense sadness because of failing the exam, that is what all parents should and need to do. Because this is the most effective way to help your children feel less sad, as well as avoid unfortunate consequences when they think and act foolishly.
