To celebrate its 30th anniversary (1995-2025), the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology organizes the Mid-Autumn Festival 2025 with the theme "Fun with Children" on October 4 and 5 (ie August 13 and 14 of the lunar calendar).
Children experience many fun activities during the Mid-Autumn Festival
The organizers said that children and families will have the opportunity to meet folk artists, learn about and experience many familiar traditional toys such as lanterns, star lanterns, clay figurines, papier-mâché masks, and dough animals.
Children also directly learn how to make toys under the guidance of artisans and experience a series of attractive folk games such as hopscotch, jumping rope, stilt walking, tug of war, grapefruit rolling, sapodilla seed hitting...

The Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere is even more exciting with many special activities such as lion and dragon dances, lantern processions, and water puppet performances by Dong Ngu puppet troupe ( Bac Ninh ).
Children can transform into puppet characters, try their hand puppetry, listen to comic stories about the Mid-Autumn Festival, or participate in drawing pictures with the theme of the moon season.
The program also incorporates STEM education elements through activities such as making lanterns, ships, etc.
In particular, children have the opportunity to experience virtual reality (VR), the "Mid-Autumn treasure hunt" game associated with artifacts displayed in the museum, or learn about the Mid-Autumn Festival tray.
Through that, children can both learn and play, combining modern scientific knowledge with traditional cultural values.

The highlight is the "Autumn Colors" art installation space, which will last from October 4 to November 4. Here, the public will be able to admire toys crafted by elderly artisans, along with unique restorations and creations from young people passionate about traditional crafts.
The "Autumn Colors" space is considered a place to recreate the nearly 3-decade journey of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology and artisans in the preservation, creation and development of folk toys. These efforts have contributed to the revival of many traditional crafts, encouraged artisans to continue their work and passed on their passion to the younger generation.
Notably, the public can directly chat with the AI Paper Doctor - a virtual character designed with the ability to answer questions related to the Mid-Autumn Festival.
