When the school organizes a walking race for students and their parents

That was the environmental walk that took place during the Green Family Day of the Canadian International School system in Ho Chi Minh City on May 27.

The interesting thing about this walk is that parents and children will participate in the walking route, passing through 3 stations named Pot, Tree, and Land. Families and students are encouraged to find teammates to join this walk to increase cohesion. While participating, teams must simultaneously complete the task of planting a tree to contribute to the green school.

Participating in the family day, walking with her daughter and family members, Ms. Xuan, the parent of female student M. Anh, said that the whole family had a great time at her child's school. "Children usually like to run ahead of adults. But because the competition rules stipulate that they must go in pairs, parents and children will have to connect, walk in sync and understand each other to be able to reach the finish line and complete the challenge," Ms. Xuan said.

Not only was there a walking competition for the environment, but during the family festival last weekend, there were also many interesting activities such as exchanging batteries, books, old stories for trees, a zero-waste fair, etc. With 3 batteries or 5 old books/stories brought along, students and their family members will be able to exchange for 1 tree.

The family festival attracted nearly 1,000 students and parents. The organizers said that this is not only a playground to connect family members but also an opportunity for each student to nurture a love for nature and increase awareness of environmental protection.

Also on family day, this international school system officially launched the Green School project.

The process of transforming the green school model here includes several key areas such as energy efficiency; waste management; water saving; green gardens and especially green education .

Green education is the integration of environmental topics and concepts into the curriculum of subjects, field trips, and environmental protection discussion topics at the Club system. From there, students will gain a deeper understanding of the environmental challenges the world faces and develop the skills needed to solve them. Students can create projects, come up with solutions to replace single-use plastic materials; or create based on available materials, recycle single-use plastic items in science projects and creative activities...
