Prosecution of illegal logging of more than 48 cubic meters of wood in Ya Hoi commune

(GLO)- Dak Po District Forest Protection Department has just issued a decision to prosecute a criminal case of illegal exploitation of 52 natural forest trees in sub-areas 644 and 648 under the management of Ya Hoi Protective Forest Management Board (Ya Hoi commune, Dak Po district).

Previously, on June 1, the Environmental Police Department - Provincial Police and Dak Po District Police discovered 52 forest trees, including: 35 Boi Loi trees, 7 Ke trees, 1 white Tram and 9 SP trees with root diameters from 26 to 80 cm illegally cut down and sawed for timber in 2 sub-areas 644, 648 managed by the Ya Hoi Protective Forest Management Board. Through initial inspection and measurement, the authorities determined the volume of illegally exploited timber to be 48,898 m3, the volume of round timber remaining at the scene to be 2.7 m3.

According to a private source of Gia Lai Newspaper reporter, on June 8, Dak Po District Forest Protection Department also issued Decision No. 01/QDKTVAHS-KL to prosecute the case of violation of regulations on forest exploitation and protection and forest products occurring at plot 5, sub-area 644; plot 3, sub-area 648 of Ya Hoi Forest Management Board. Dak Po District Forest Protection Department also transferred the case file to the Dak Po District Police Investigation Agency for investigation according to its authority.

The case is currently being investigated and clarified by Gia Lai province authorities.
