No lobbying in teacher rotation

At the regular meeting of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee in August held on the afternoon of September 5, Mr. Thai Viet Tuong, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province, reported on some contents in the new school year.

According to Mr. Tuong, to prepare for the new school year, the provincial Department of Education and Training has focused on preparing conditions including human resources, facilities, and repairing schools and classrooms to ensure teaching and learning.

Currently, Quang Nam has nearly 27,000 teachers, including non-public schools. Recently, the districts and cities have recruited more than 500 cadres, teachers and staff; the Department of Education and Training has recruited more than 230 teachers and staff. This number supplements the existing human resources to ensure the organization of teaching and learning in the new school year 2024-2025.

Mr. Tuong said that the Department of Education and Training has transferred more than 50 teachers under the direct management of the Department (high schools). The principle of transfer is from surplus to shortage areas and priority is given to teachers in mountainous areas returning to the plains. The transfer must ensure that it does not affect teaching conditions in schools.

"The work of rotating teachers and arranging teachers of the Department of Education and Training is done openly, transparently, reasonably and without any negativity. In recent years, this work has been guaranteed to be free of negativity and corruption, we can confirm this" - Mr. Tuong said.

Mr. Le Van Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, said that in recent times, the Department of Education and Training has made great efforts in teaching and learning. However, currently in many places in the province, schools and facilities are degraded and shabby.

In the near future, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee will have a dialogue with the education sector, first of all the high schools managed by the Department of Education and Training, to hear more information and situations, especially how to invest in education well.

According to Mr. Dung, in the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, public investment in the period of 2025-2030 will prioritize the fields of education, health care and culture.

"Recently, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had a dialogue with the health sector, and soon with education and then with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to resolve problems, especially the complicated ones" - Mr. Dung said.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province assessed that since Mr. Thai Viet Tuong was appointed as the director of the department, the basic education sector has been stable and developed well, especially the quality of education has been improving. Notably, Quang Nam won the gold medal in the Olympic competition for the first time.

"The teaching staff is happy, sympathetic, supportive, and there has been no scandal, including the appointment and transfer of teachers, and we have not heard any scandals. We need to try to maintain this. Doing so is very good," said Mr. Le Van Dung.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province also requested that officials, civil servants of departments, and local leaders not interfere in the work of the education sector, such as influencing the transfer of teachers from one place to another.

Mr. Le Van Dung also noted that for cadres and teachers managed by the district level, it is necessary to follow the spirit of transparency, not to be negative, to lobby for transfers, or to rotate from one place to another.
