On March 4, Mr. Ngo Van Ninh, Chief of Office and spokesman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that there was no closure of Lien Khuong airport, but only necessary repairs were made at night.
Previously, public opinion inside and outside Lam Dong province was abuzz that Lien Khuong airport would be closed for 3 months for repairs, so there was concern about travel difficulties.
Lien Khuong Airport is bustling with passengers
According to Mr. Ninh, up to now, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has not received any official document regarding the closure of Lien Khuong airport for repairs.
Mr. Ninh added that before the Lunar New Year, the airport also repaired the runway. During the repair process, the airport still operates to serve the travel needs of people and tourists every day.
Currently, in addition to domestic flights, Lien Khuong airport has been operating international flights from Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, China to Da Lat. Recently, Vietjet Air has opened two more routes from Incheon and Pusan (Korea) to Da Lat.
In 2023, the Prime Minister issued Decision 648/QD-TTg approving the master plan for the development of the national airport system for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050. Accordingly, Lien Khuong International Airport will have a level 4E airport scale, an expected design capacity of about 5 million passengers/year, an area of 340.84 hectares, with an investment cost of about VND 4,591 billion. By 2050, Lien Khuong International Airport will have a level 4E airport scale, an expected design capacity of about 7 million passengers/year, an area of 486.84 hectares, with an additional investment cost of about VND 3,157 billion.
