Trieu Lo Tu's film inserts 'cow tongue line' image, Department of Cinema speaks up

Chinese romance movie Let me shine with the participation of Zhao Lusi and William Chan are attracting a large Vietnamese audience. The film is broadcast with copyright in Vietnam on many major platforms such as K+,FPT Play, VieOn, TV360 and WeTV.

In episode 16, in a scene in the office of character Tham Hao Minh (played by Tran Vy Dinh), on the wall hangs a world map with details said to include the "cow tongue line".

The image of the cow tongue line appearing in the film violates Vietnam's territorial sovereignty, making many viewers angry.

The scene appeared when Hao Minh was transferred to Thanh An district to handle the stalled project, after being unable to join the board of directors of Kim Dat Group.

On social networks, the audience's reaction was extremely harsh. Many movie fanpages announced to stop posting information about the movie. Let me shine. Many viewers called on platforms to quickly remove the film.

Sharing with VTC News Electronic Newspaper reporter, Mr. Dang Tran Cuong, Director of the Department Department of Cinema said the Department received information reflecting the film Let me shine A Chinese-made film is being circulated on the internet, including an image of the "nine-dash line map" that violates national sovereignty and Article 9 of the 2022 Cinema Law.

The Department of Cinema requires film dissemination platforms to report, clearly showing information about the film (film name, country of production, supplier), form of dissemination (copyright purchase, distribution cooperation, etc.), dissemination time on the platform, film censorship and classification process before dissemination, and proposed measures of the platform in case of violation.

The Department of Cinema requests relevant units to report on time and with required content according to the law before 11:00 a.m. on October 3, 2025.

Regarding this content, Deputy Director of the Department of Cinema Do Quoc Viet said that the unit will deploy handling steps according to regulations.

"The purchase of copyright and distribution of films in Vietnam must be licensed by state management agencies and carried out in accordance with regulations. Therefore, when an incident arises, the relevant parties must be responsible for reporting and coordinating the handling." Mr. Viet said.

Based on the inspection results, the Cinema Department will take strict measures to handle the case in accordance with the law, and at the same time strengthen inspection and supervision measures to prevent violations from recurring in the future.

This is not the first case of foreign films shown in Vietnam embedding images of the "cow tongue line". Particularly in the Chinese television sector, many films have been caught up in the "cow tongue line" incident such as Go with the Wind, Love 199 - Want to Love Forever or y In the name of family and then removed from OTT platforms in Vietnam.
