On the afternoon of January 10, at Can Tho Stadium, the qualifying round of the Southwest region of the 3rd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2025 THACO Cup (TNSV THACO Cup 2025) took place in the second round with 2 matches in group A. That was the match between Cuu Long University - Can Tho University and Dong Thap University - Nam Can Tho University.

A large number of students came to Can Tho Stadium (30,000 seats) to cheer for the teams participating in the Southwest region qualifying round of the TNSV THACO Cup 2025 football tournament.

In both matches, in addition to the exciting situations on the field, the Can Tho Stadium stands were filled with the sound of vuvuzelas and drums. Nguyen Huu Nghia (20 years old, student at Can Tho University), confided: "Those who are introverted must also be active and excited when coming here. Because everyone around me is watching the match attentively, cheering enthusiastically, feeling every move of the ball."

Meanwhile, because of the long distance, Cuu Long University had fewer students cheering but brought a lot of vuvuzelas. Ho Minh Tang (student of Cuu Long University) excitedly said: “These trumpets were used by us when we went to “storm” Vietnam’s victory over Thailand, winning the AFF Cup recently. We went with few people, knowing that normal cheering was not effective, so we wanted to use the trumpets to let the players hear. We decided to keep the atmosphere lively so that the team would know that there is always support nearby.”

Dong Thap University also brought a very exciting atmosphere with the drum-playing cheering group. Up to now, this is a "unique" form of cheering in the Southwest qualifying round, so the students know how to promote it. Everyone cheered "to the top, to the ceiling, to the wind". The outcome of the match is unknown, but we definitely cannot lose in the stands, determined to explode as much as possible.

With each ball, the clapping, cheering, drumming, and vuvuzela continuously resounded, blending together, making the atmosphere at Can Tho Stadium as bustling as a festival. The constant cheering made the neutral spectators restless.

Mr. Nguyen Van Canh (52 years old, Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) said: "The student football tournament is professional, the atmosphere is so exciting. The audience is even more crowded than the previous V-League matches held at Can Tho Stadium. The matches are attractive, the players are evenly matched, spending time watching is the right thing to do."

The qualifying round of the 3rd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2025 THACO Cup has 66 teams divided into 6 groups to compete according to geographical areas from December 28, 2024 to January 18, 2025. Specifically, including the northern region (from December 30, 2024 - January 10, 2025 at Thuy Loi University Stadium); the Central Coast region (from January 6 - January 12, 2025 at Military Zone 5 Stadium - Da Nang); the South Central and Central Highlands regions (January 10 - January 18, 2025 at Nha Trang University Stadium); the Southeast region (January 4 - January 12, 2025 at Bau Thanh Stadium, Ba Ria - Vung Tau); Southwestern region (January 8 - January 17, 2025 at Can Tho Stadium) and Ho Chi Minh City region (December 28, 2024 - January 15, 2025 at Ton Duc Thang University Stadium) to select 11 teams along with the host team Ton Duc Thang University to compete in the final round of the tournament from March 1 - March 16, 2025.
