25th Anniversary of the University of Education

On November 15, the University of Education , Vietnam National University, Hanoi held a ceremony to celebrate its 25th anniversary with the theme: "Journey to create the future".

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quy Thanh, Principal of the University of Education, said that after 25 years of development, the school has had changes in its organizational structure, human resources, facilities, training programs and scientific research.

From the initial 4 departments of the Faculty of Pedagogy, by 2009, when the University of Education was established, the school had 4 functional departments, 3 training faculties, and 6 affiliated centers. Up to now, the school has 7 functional departments, 6 training faculties, 1 practice high school, 3 research centers, 1 training and fostering center, and 1 research institute. The total staff of the whole school, including the practice school, is nearly 300 officials and employees, an increase of about 15 times compared to the initial period of establishment.

The school's staff also has the highest percentage of lecturers with doctoral degrees in the country, with nearly 84% of lecturers and the percentage with the title of Professor or Associate Professor is nearly 30%.

The school's team of experts regularly participates in policy consulting, participating in the development of many important legal documents, such as the Law on Higher Education, the Law on Education, the Law on Teachers, Decrees and Circulars in the field of education, participating in the development of graduation exam plans from 2025... Not only contributing to the training of human resources in the civil sector, the school also contributes to the training and fostering of human resources for the police and military sectors, contributing to the development of a capacity assessment system to serve the recruitment of the police sector, contributing to the cause of national defense.

The school has also seen a significant increase in its scientific publication index and international rankings. The annual Hanoi Forum on Educational Sciences and Pedagogy, also known as HaFPES, organized by the school annually has become a brand that attracts thousands of domestic and international scientists.

In 2023, the Times Higher Education ranking organization ranked the Education sector of Hanoi National University, in which the University of Education plays a core role, at 401-500 in the world.

“Today’s success is thanks to the great efforts of all the school’s staff, lecturers, and teachers, especially the generation of school leaders and faculty members who have accompanied the school over the years. Generations of staff, lecturers, and administrators who have worked and are working at the school have always made every effort to help the school affirm its position in the network of higher education institutions in Vietnam,” said Professor Thanh.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director of Hanoi National University Pham Bao Son said that the University of Education has never had such great advantages and prospects as it does today, but also faces many challenges.

In the context of the rapidly changing technological revolution, especially artificial intelligence, the application of this technology will create many opportunities but also bring great challenges to education.

On the occasion of the anniversary, 5 training programs of the University of Education received quality accreditation certificates.

Associate Professor Dr. Pham Bao Son emphasized that in the project of planning the university and pedagogical education network to 2030, with a vision to 2050, the University of Education is identified as a key pedagogical training institution. The school's responsibility is to demonstrate its pivotal role in training teachers and educational administrators to meet the country's development needs.

To seize opportunities and overcome challenges, schools need to focus on developing in the direction of spiritual convergence, consistency in action, solidarity in organization, discipline in management, and unity from top to bottom.

Inheriting the achievements, the school needs to actively build a culture of quality, taking learners as the center in training and scientific research; build research programs oriented towards policy consultation and solutions for growth; deploy solutions to enhance position, reputation and brand.

At the same time, the school also needs to research and develop sustainable financial resources from training and transferring scientific and technological products; and be more active in digital transformation to become a model of smart university governance in units of Hanoi National University.
