A large number of experts, researchers, culturalists and students attended. The ceremony commemorated a heroic period in the history of the nation and of the homeland of Hue City , of the outstanding children of the homeland and country, of a school with a strange fate with gratitude and deep pride.
80 years ago, at the time when the August Revolution of 1945 was boiling throughout the country, a school with a "strange fate" was born, that was the Hue Youth Frontline School.
Hue Youth Frontline School opened on July 2, 1945 according to Decree No. 15 (June 16, 1945) of the Tran Trong Kim Government . Although established by the Tran Trong Kim Government, the school is not a military school like the specialized military schools of other countries. In terms of spirit, the school aims to train young people with martial spirit, respect for discipline, love adventure and have enough determination to deal with difficult situations... It is a place to train national spirit and self-reliance.
To avoid Japanese attention and intervention, the school's founders used a strategy of not using the word " military " even though the goal was to train military command officers, and the content of teaching and training was military knowledge and skills.
Although it was a school of the Tran Trong Kim government, the founders of the school, lawyer Phan Anh and professor Ta Quang Buu, did not aim at training to serve the Tran Trong Kim government, but took advantage of the opportunity to train a class of military command officers for an independent Vietnam in the future. The strange fate of the "green exterior, red heart" school that appeared at the special historical moment of the August Revolution in Thua Thien Hue is precisely that.
The school only trained 1 course and it lasted only 2 months, with 43 students and 4 teachers, with Mr. Phan Tu Lang as principal. The school was organized in a self-governing manner. Military training was in charge of Mr. Phan Tu Lang and Mr. Vo Luong, while the students had to take care of their own food, accommodation, cooking, etc. Every day, in the morning the students of the school went to military training, in the afternoon they learned to drive cars, learn carpentry, mechanics, learn to swim, learn to ride horses or learn how to use weapons, how to command, some self-study and discussion sessions at school.
The students of the school became one of the core forces for the uprising to seize power in Hue and protect the young revolutionary government in the historic days of Autumn August 1945. Following the revolution, growing up in the fire of revolution, many of them became high-ranking military commanders, key cadres contributing many achievements and glorious victories in the fields of politics, military, economy, and culture. Among the 43 students of the school, there were 5 martyrs, 10 colonels, 8 generals, many of them were famous science professors.
According to the representative of Hue City History Museum, Hue Frontline Youth School has become a red address, marking historical events and revolutionary traditions of the locality. Thereby, contributing to the education of revolutionary ideals, love for homeland, country, national pride and arousing enthusiasm, talent and youth to build and protect the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam today.
