Miss Universe Vietnam's term is about to end, how does Ngoc Chau feel now?

I feel like the past year has gone by in the blink of an eye. Every person, every story, every memory, every trip... I met and experienced are all unforgettable to me.

I am grateful for the valuable journey at Miss Universe Vietnam 2022, which gave me the opportunity to explore more, commit more, develop and find my own value.

I am no longer afraid of comments like "too safe, hard to break out". I am now mature enough to understand my own goals, confident enough to face difficulties and ready to accept challenges to break out myself.

From there, I believe that the values ​​I create can bring positive values ​​to the community and society.

If you were asked the same behavioral question from last year: "In 5 years, who will you be?", how would you answer?

I will still answer the same: "In the next 5 years, Ngoc Chau will still be Ngoc Chau, continuing the journey of sharing with a warm heart and a pair of hands ready to act to pursue her own dream of bringing full conditions of health, education , and love to children."

I believe that each beauty queen has her own mission for her journey. Growing up in a rural border area with many difficulties and lack of conditions for children to develop comprehensively, I understand and sympathize with all those deprivations.

So I decided to join the Children's Step Up Fund. The fund and I set big fundraising goals to help more children with congenital disabilities.

How do you know which door to walk through? For example, trading your studies for the duties of a beauty queen?

When I shared my story, I received mixed reactions, both encouraging and consoling, as well as negative comments. It is true that there are times and crossroads where you have to make decisions. But those are decisions made in adulthood, and I do not regret it.

If given the choice again, would Ngoc Chau change her decision?

I didn't change. But I understand, with this decision, the person who worries the most is my mother. She often asks: "What will you do in the future?"

That is why I will not give up. In the near future, I will go back to school, pursue the field of media and become a professional producer. At this time, when I decide to go back to school, after I have stabilized my job, I will do my best to make my mother feel secure.

I passed the English test and received a 50% scholarship from the University of Economics and Finance. I hope to achieve the academic results that I initially set out.

What do you think about the untrue rumors about your studies being brought up for discussion?

I believe everyone wants what's best for themselves, but not everyone can share their personal opinions in a way that's easy for others to hear and accept.

I also understand that once you become a public figure and take on an influential position like Miss Universe Vietnam, noise is inevitable.

I have prepared myself mentally for negative comments. If the audience gives constructive and loving comments, I will select and change to improve myself.

I myself can't force others to like me or stop them from making negative comments.

But can you always "avoid" malicious comments?

I feel a little sad if my loved ones are unintentionally affected. Since becoming a beauty queen, I have become more conscious of protecting my image. I carefully consider what I do and what I say on social media.

Sometimes things happen that you can’t control. If you keep focusing on them, you will lose energy.

What has happened has happened, I choose to contribute to the public, learn from the experience and try to change so that this mistake will not be repeated. However, looking back, this life has given me more than one title.

Luckily, during the crucial stages or when I was stuck, I had the support of the company and the team, who helped me plan strategies. Most of all, I also had my mother support and be by my side throughout my journey of growing up.

Try and make an effort every day

Seeing her daughter being attacked, has her mother ever advised her to get married and find a stable job, so she won't be hurt as much as when she's famous?

My mother supported all my decisions and choices. Only when I competed in Vietnam's Next Top Model, I was still very new to this industry.

My mother is just a simple farmer, afraid that I would fall into temptation, so at that time she did not accept me. But now, I think it is enough to reassure her that her daughter can develop in the entertainment industry.

I love and consider my mother as my idol. Whenever I am stuck and don't know what to do, I call her.

Indeed, over the past year, there have been times when I've felt a bit pressured, but "pressure makes diamonds".

Responsibility motivates me to constantly try and make efforts to achieve results. Tiredness or hardship will be challenges for me to overcome on the long journey.

Can this be considered a piece of advice for the new Miss Universe Vietnam 2023?

Maybe! I hope the girl chosen for this position will always be brave enough to prepare for a new journey.

Always be yourself, the more inner strength you have, the more effort and practice you need. Any success must overcome difficulties and challenges.

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau was born in 1993, from Tay Ninh. In 2018, she competed in the Miss Supranational Vietnam contest and won, then competed in Miss Supranational 2019, entered the Top 10 finalists and won the title of Miss Supranational Asia.

In May 2022, she was crowned Miss Universe Vietnam, winning the right to compete in the 71st Miss Universe in the US in early 2023 but did not make it to the top.
