
Previously, the Binh Thuan Dragon Fruit Association had proposed relevant authorities to negotiate with the United States to allow Vietnam to use heat treatment for fresh dragon fruit when exporting to this market. Specifically, the province currently has a dragon fruit heat treatment facility (Fire Fruit Asia Company headquartered in Ham Kiem Industrial Park) that has been accepted by Korea and Japan. Heat treatment helps preserve dragon fruit better, while reducing costs for businesses in transportation.
Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province also requested the People's Committees of dragon fruit producing communes to closely monitor the dragon fruit growing areas that have been assigned codes to the People's Committees of the communes in order to regularly maintain the codes according to the requirements of the importing country. Along with that, review the dragon fruit growing area in the business stage in the locality that is eligible to register the growing area, but has not yet established a profile to issue a growing area code (MSVT) for export. Localities need to strictly manage the authorization of MSVT use for packaging facilities; avoid cases of authorization to businesses that do not meet actual needs, causing difficulties for exporting and consuming dragon fruit. Because currently, MSVT exported to the Chinese market are jointly owned by the commune.
The leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment also requested that growing areas and packaging facilities must strictly comply with the regulations of the importing country and the instructions of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection for the export of fresh fruit; especially the management of harmful organisms and pesticide residues...
