For the first time, Vietnamese customers received iPhone 17 before the US.

From early morning on September 19, hundreds of people lined up to buy the latest iPhone line, as this year Vietnam was among the first areas to open for sale.

Along with the international market, iPhone 17 and Air officially hit shelves in Vietnam from 8am on September 19. Since the night before, many customers had been present at the opening points of sale of some dealers to wait in line.

Hundreds of thousands of iPhone 17 pre-orders

At Nguyen Hue walking street, the livestream event to welcome the iPhone 17 launch attracted hundreds of customers.

According to Tri Thuc - Znews , the CEO of Apple Vietnam and many regional leaders of the group were also present at the event.

Mr. Doan Van Hieu Em, CEO of Mobile World , said that the company's website has received more than 100,000 pre-orders. He said that in the first week of sale, 15,000 devices will be delivered to customers, and a total of 50,000 within the next 2 weeks.

"The goal of domestic phone distributors is to make Vietnam the first market to sell iPhones, and we have done it," Mr. Hieu Em told Tri Thuc - Znews .

At exactly 8:00 a.m., TopZone Nguyen Hue opens its doors for the first 50 customers with queue numbers to visit.

In Hanoi , many chain stores also held opening events. From early morning, many people lined up at Aeon Mall (Long Bien, Hanoi) to wait to receive the device at ShopDunk stores.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang and Nguyen Thi Bich (Hong Ha ward) woke up at 5am to prepare to pick up the device at the store at a shopping mall in Long Bien ward.

“This year, my wife and I chose two iPhone 17 Pro Max in space orange and silver. We have been using the iPhone 12 Pro Max for a long time, so this year is the right time to upgrade. What I care about most about the iPhone 17 Pro Max is the battery life and the new A19 Pro processor,” said Mr. Thang.

Attending the iPhone 17 sale event of TopZone, Quynh Alee, a famous female TikToker and Streamer, shared her joy at being one of the first owners to serve her content creation work. "Not only myself but also many of my other friends are following this special event," said the female TikToker.

iPhone 17 Pro Max sold out, many models still available for purchase

This year, the iPhone 17 Pro has a listed price from 35 million VND, while the 17 Pro Max starts at 38 million VND, which is 3-4 million VND higher than the previous generation. The 2025 iPhone series all have a minimum capacity of 256 GB, a 120 Hz screen, and especially Apple added a 2 TB option for the 17 Pro Max for the first time.

At 64 million VND, this has become the most expensive genuine iPhone model ever. Despite the significant price increase, the 17 Pro Max is still the most sought-after version in the first sale.

As expected, the iPhone 17 Pro Max in Cosmic Orange became the center of attention on the first day of opening. Some customers opened the phone right away, commenting that the phone felt quite sturdy in the hand, the camera was good, and the box was bigger than every year.

"The special feature of the orange color helps people immediately distinguish that this is an iPhone 17 Pro Max," a customer who bought it shared.

The atmosphere at other stores and agents such asFPT and Mobile World is still very lively. Store staff are busy closing orders, opening devices, and installing screen protectors to serve customers.

The main reason is the appeal of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. In the context that online sales channels were "sold out" just a few minutes after opening deposits on September 12, many chains cut out a number of devices to sell directly at the opening sale event. Therefore, waiting early has become a way for customers who have not yet ordered a device to buy early.

In contrast to the sold-out scene of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, less attractive models such as the regular iPhone 17 and the high-capacity iPhone Air were still available for purchase on the opening morning.

The appeal of the iPhone 17 generation and the launch program shows that Vietnam is still an attractive market for Apple. Vietnam has become a rare market to open sales right from the beginning, even though there are no physical Apple stores, only online stores.

For some large units like Mobile World, the sales target is set at up to 1 billion USD by 2027.

"The coming years will come with bigger goals, with Apple continuing to be our strategic partner," said Doan Van Hieu Em.
