On June 25, Duy Tan University coordinated with relevant units to hold a press conference to inform about the first ASEAN - Korea Tourism Roundtable (AK-RT) in 2025.
The ASEAN-Korea Tourism Roundtable (AK-RT) was launched in August 2024 under the framework of the initiative between the governments of ASEAN countries and the Republic of Korea (AKFTA), with the aim of promoting tourism exchanges and cooperation between ASEAN countries and the Republic of Korea.
The organizers said the conference, with the participation of tourism policymakers, business leaders and stakeholders from the two regions, will discuss and propose practical solutions to contribute to the recovery and sustainable development of the tourism industry after the Covid-19 pandemic.
The conference aims to promote and restore the flow of tourists between Korea and ASEAN, in accordance with Article 5 of the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Cooperation between the governments of ASEAN countries and Korea on tourism.
During the three-day conference, there were discussions on four main topics: strengthening security and facilitating tourism development; improving tourism infrastructure to enhance visitors' experiences; training tourism human resources and promoting understanding of cultural diversity between ASEAN countries and Korea.
The conference also served as a platform for dialogue between tourism stakeholders from Korea and ASEAN, with the aim of formulating policy recommendations to promote exchanges between the two regions, contributing significantly to economic growth after the Covid-19 pandemic.
It is known that this event is held in rotation in countries within 3 years, this year is the first year it is held in Vietnam, sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ASEAN - Korea FTA Fund (AKFTA).
According to the General Statistics Office, in the first 5 months of 2025, of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam, visitors arriving by air reached 7.84 million, accounting for 85.2% of the total number of international visitors, an increase of 23.6% over the same period in 2024. With 1.9 million arrivals, South Korea is the second largest sending market after China, accounting for 20.7% of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam.
