On the afternoon of October 2, leaders of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Pung Luong commune, Lao Cai province visited and encouraged households affected by storm No. 10.

According to preliminary statistics, the storm's circulation caused prolonged heavy rain in the area, landslides, flash floods in some villages. Rocks and soil flooded into people's houses, seriously affecting their lives and daily activities.

The whole commune had 4 injured people, 19 houses affected (of which 4 houses had to be urgently evacuated, 1 house had its property buried, 6 houses had their roofs blown off, 6 houses had their slopes collapsed). In addition, the natural disaster also damaged 6.53 hectares of crops, swept away 3 buffaloes and 7 motorbikes, and buried nearly 2 hectares of ponds for raising sturgeon, salmon and other aquatic products. Many roads, irrigation works, and domestic water were also affected. The total damage was estimated at nearly 1.7 billion VND.

Comrade Giang A Vu - Secretary of the Party Committee of Pung Luong commune visited the situation, shared difficulties, encouraged families to quickly overcome the consequences of natural disasters, and gave 6 families with heavy losses 2 million VND each. Previously, the commune government mobilized local forces to support people in cleaning up their houses and reinforcing areas at risk of landslides to ensure safety.

Currently, Pung Luong commune continues to review and count the damage, and proactively develop plans to prevent and respond to the complicated developments of floods in the coming days.
