Every time Tet is near, gardeners and farmers in Ninh Phuc flower village ( Ninh Binh city) are busy preparing for the biggest flower crop of the year. Farmers are always busy and enthusiastic with their work to bring to the market the most beautiful flower pots to serve the needs of flower lovers during Tet.
Mr. Vu Van Bang's family in Doai Thuong village is one of the largest flower growers in Ninh Phuc flower village. At this time, in Mr. Bang's family garden, many types of flowers are competing to show off their brilliant colors, with many customers coming to choose and buy flowers to celebrate Tet. Trucks carrying flowers to sell in the localities are also bustling. Mr. Bang said: To meet the high market demand during Tet, from the first days of the 9th lunar month, my family started planting flowers. This year, my family planted more than 10,000 flowers of all kinds.
At the flower garden of Mr. Dien Van Tam's family in Doai Thuong village, at this time, many customers also come to choose their favorite flower pots to celebrate Tet. A flower farmer here said: Although it is not yet the peak of Tet, the flower garden has sold many flower pots to serve the needs of customers. The types of flowers that customers buy a lot are gerbera, primrose, night jasmine, Korean chrysanthemum...
This year, despite the economic difficulties, it is forecasted that the demand for flowers by many people will not decrease compared to last year. The prices of many types of flowers will not increase: Petunias of various colors range from 90,000 to 120,000 VND/pot, gerberas 25,000 to 30,000 VND/plant, chrysanthemums 50,000 to 130,000 VND/pot depending on size, dahlias 30,000 to 40,000 VND/pot….

Not only checking in and taking photos at the gardens, Ms. Bui Thi Phuong in Ninh Son ward, Ninh Binh city also chose to buy gerbera daisies to plant in her small garden. "I like to display gerbera daisies because this type of flower is not only bright and colorful but also symbolizes luck and fortune" - Ms. Phuong shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien in Yen Dong commune, Yen Mo district said: I came to the garden with the hope of seeing the brilliant colors of the flowers and choosing my favorite flower pots. I chose to buy lisianthus flowers to display on Tet holiday and pray for a peaceful new year, with all good luck.
Although this year the weather is not favorable, with strong sunshine, then cold and heavy rain, significantly affecting the growth of flowers. However, to meet market demand and improve the quality of crops, for many years now gardeners have proactively invested and applied science and technology, high technology in planting and care such as: Investing in net houses, greenhouses, electric lighting systems, drip irrigation technology. Therefore, pests and damage caused by extreme weather have been limited; especially, the blooming time can be adjusted as desired.
In addition, gardeners have also boldly changed their thinking, converting ineffective areas to grow new types of flowers that are valuable, long-lasting, easy to grow and popular in the market. Such as primroses, zinnias, Korean chrysanthemums, begonias, etc. With techniques and experience accumulated over many years, gardeners have cared for and pruned trees to create beautiful shapes; large, beautiful flowers, ensuring quality and bringing in hundreds of millions of dong in income each year.

Currently, many types of flowers have budded, bloomed, and are showing off their brilliant colors. Traders inside and outside the province have placed large orders, and many garden owners said they have sold 2/3 of the flowers in their gardens. Applying digital technology to sales is also an advantage that helps gardeners easily reach a large number of customers, making consumption more convenient. Instead of waiting until the Lunar New Year, many customers have come early to the gardens to choose their favorite flower pots to decorate their homes.
According to comrade Do Van Hung, Chairman of the Ninh Phuc Commune Farmers' Association: Although flower growing is quite hard, it brings in income many times higher than growing rice and other crops. In the coming time, the Association will continue to mobilize members and farmers to invest and apply science and technology in growing and caring for flowers. At the same time, it will open more training courses on new techniques and new varieties for members and farmers to have many beautiful flowers to serve the market. This will be an important solution for Ninh Phuc flower village to develop more and more, bringing high and sustainable income to farmers.
