Provincial leaders work with the working delegation of the Committee on Foreign Non-Governmental Organizations

On August 20, 2025, at the headquarters of the People's Committee of Lang Son province, Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee received and worked with the working delegation of the Working Committee on Foreign Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) led by Ms. Do Thi Kim Dung, Deputy Head of the People's Aid Coordination Board, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations. Attending the working session were representatives of the Provincial Police, the Provincial People's Committee Office, the Departments of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Ethnicity and Religion and the Provincial Women's Union.

At the meeting, Ms. Tran Thi Van Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Standing Agency of the Provincial Committee for Non-Governmental Organizations, reported to the working delegation on the results of the management and mobilization of non-governmental organizations in Lang Son province. As of July 2025, in Lang Son province, there are 18 non-governmental organizations licensed to operate under Decree No. 58/2022/ND-CP, dated August 31, 2022 of the Government on registration and management of activities of non-governmental organizations in Vietnam. During the period of 2019 - 2025, the province received 23 non-governmental organizations and humanitarian aid projects with a total value of over 1.77 million USD; received 42 humanitarian aid and non-project aid from international organizations and non-governmental organizations with a total value of over 2.2 million USD.

Current PCPNN projects focus on supporting economically disadvantaged areas, ethnic minority and mountainous areas, mainly in the fields of education, health, livestock, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, improving livelihoods and humanitarian and charitable activities. These projects have contributed practically to improving living conditions and enhancing livelihoods for people, especially the poor and vulnerable groups.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated the positive contributions from NGO aid projects to poverty reduction and socio-economic development of the province. He requested the People's Aid Coordination Board and central agencies to continue to pay attention, guide, and prioritize support for the province in connecting and organizing working sessions with potential NGO organizations with operational orientations appropriate to aid needs in the period 2026 - 2030. The province also proposed to introduce and connect specific NGO projects that Lang Son has built to organizations for consideration and implementation in the coming time.

On behalf of the working delegation, Ms. Do Thi Kim Dung, Deputy Head of the People's Aid Coordination Board, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, expressed her thanks to Lang Son province for its close coordination in the past time, and accepted the locality's proposals and recommendations. She shared more about the trend of NGO aid activities in Vietnam, and at the same time suggested that Lang Son province continue to pay attention and make the most of aid resources in priority areas; strengthen state management in a modern and professional direction; pay attention to the staff serving NGO organizations; promote information coordination with central agencies; proactively propose cooperation initiatives and develop plans to inspect and supervise NGO activities in the area.
