Flip Side 7: A Wish achieved the top opening revenue as predicted, while The Price of Happiness unexpectedly "lost momentum", falling deep in the revenue rankings last weekend.
Specifically, according to Box Office Vietnam data, Lat mat 7: Mot giau uoc earned more than 105 billion VND as of noon on April 29. The film also had an overwhelming number of screenings - more than 11,000 - many times more than the films ranked 2nd and 3rd.
Flip Side 7 repeats Mai's achievement
The latest film in Ly Hai's series worth hundreds of billions of dong exploits the theme of family love instead of comedy and action like the previous film. The film is also classified as K, suitable for most audiences. This is also the factor that makes the film break away from its predecessors.
Good news also came to Ly Hai and his crew when the film reached the hundred billion mark after 3 days - a similar achievement to the film Mai by director Tran Thanh during Tet this year.

However, The Price of Happiness - the film that was supposed to be the main "rival" of Lat Mat 7 this holiday - was unexpectedly left behind. The film only earned 1.8 billion VND last weekend, causing the film's total revenue to stagnate at 23.1 billion VND.
Currently, The Price of Happiness only earns a few hundred million VND per day and has about 400 screenings, while just this morning, Ly Hai's film earned more than 11.7 billion VND with more than 4,000 screenings, 10 times more than The Price of Happiness.
Korean action blockbuster is no match for Flip Side 7 - Photo: Producer
Currently holding the second place in the revenue race is the Korean action film Siege: The Punisher, marking the return of Ma Dong Seok - the famous "action male" of the Korean screen.
The film tells the story of a "super cop"'s journey to confront sophisticated criminals in the technology world.
Siege: The Punisher currently has a total of 9.9 billion VND in revenue, most of which came from this past weekend.
Compared to Lat mat 7, the weekend revenue of the Korean blockbuster is only one-tenth of director Ly Hai's film.
Another Korean movie, The Evil Spirit , only earned over 800 million VND after many days of release, losing to movies released nearly a month ago like Godzilla x Kong.
In the race between the two animated films Fat Cat with 10 Lives and Fat Bear, the film about a cat going through his reincarnation journey is dominating its rival from Australia.

Specifically, Fat Cat with 10 kills earned 4.4 billion VND after nearly 4 days, while Fat Bear only had a modest total revenue of 364 million VND.
Overall, the April 30 and May 1 holidays are an uneven race between Lat mat 7 and the other films. However, audiences still have many options from horror to pure action or animation to better suit their tastes.
