Ky Yen Festival - Lac Tanh Communal House

As usual, this year, Lac Tanh communal house, Tanh Linh district organized the Ky Yen ceremony (spring ceremony) on March 24 and 25, 2024 (February 15 and 16, Giap Thin year) to mark a year of peace and favorable weather, and to pray together for a new year of peace, favorable weather, and national prosperity.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Huu, Head of the Management Board - and Chief Priest of Lac Tanh Communal House, said: This year's Ky Yen (Spring Sacrifice) ceremony will perform the same rituals as every year. This is a festival with spiritual significance, praying for favorable weather, good harvests, a prosperous people and a strong country, and also honoring the traditional cultural beauty of the local people. People in the neighborhoods of Lac Tanh town bring offerings and pray for blessings, wealth, prosperity, and longevity. The Ky Yen ceremony has two parts: the ceremony and the festival. The ceremony includes the ritual of bringing the god's decree to the communal house; people offering incense, wine, tea, and reading the eulogy to pray and thank the gods. The ceremony is very important and is solemnly organized. The participants in the ceremony are the elders and prestigious people in the community. The festival part is an art program.

According to Mr. Huu, Lac Tanh communal house has existed since 1940. In 2009, Lac Tanh communal house was recognized as a provincial historical and cultural relic by the superiors. In 2020, the communal house was renovated and embellished to meet the spiritual and cultural needs of local people.
